Who think its ok to stand right outside my house and have a full blown argument with their boyfriend/girlfriend!! Saturday night I was subjected to a group of them actually banging on the frt door just for a laugh! When you live on your own with a small child this is really bloody scarey. I understand that people go out and have a drink but why cant they just walk home bloody quietly without annoying people. GRRRRRR

I agree, have walked home many a night trying to keep drunken friends quiet and am acutely aware of how disruptive they are being. I am never noisy but suspect this is because I have a weird issue with making loud noises due to being consistently told "stop making that dreadful noise" as a child.

im not against going out and having a few sneaky ones but I would never go out of my way to annoy people.

YANBU. Walking my 5 year old to school this morning - as usual there are a few puddles of vomit on the pavement on the way. 'Why are people sick a lot here Mummy? Are there lots of germs where we live?' And as I walked DS home from an after school activity last week there were a bunch of men peeing against the wall of our block of flats on their way from one pub to another. DS was horrified - 'Why were they doing that on our home?'

Am at risk of sounding all DM here, but really, what happened to common decency and respect for other's homes and lives?

The last time my doorbell got rung in the middle of the night I got up really angry and was going to go ballistic a la minimischeif's suggestion and this group of rather endearing teenagers asked me if I'd lost a puppy as they'd found it wandering the street! That kind of knocked the wind out of me and I forgot to be grumpy with them.

Agree. What is it with people who can't go out, have a few drinks and go home again? Why does anyone feel the need to get so drunk that they vomit, have to pee in the street and shout and scream - it's an awful indictment on British society that we have this attitude to alcohol.

As for calling the police - have you ever tried to get the police out on a Friday and Saturday night because there are some drunks weeing outside your house? They're all in the town centre dealing with stabbings and fights - a bit of noise is far down their list of priorities.

Shouting and wailing singing here also, it's very annoying to be woken up at 2am.

minimisschief- I dont think I would ever be brave enought to confront them. The language coming out of their mouths is enough to make my hair curl. The oddtimes Ive been out and got in that state I just go home and sleep whilst not wishing to sound like a parent I think its all about respect yet again !!

I'm on an ambulance route - so blue flashing lights and sirens all night here. But I do enjoy earwigging on the occasional domestic outside.

As to people thinking they are funny to ring your bell late at night - may I suggest a bucket of water out of the window and a recording of a loud barking dog?

In our last house we were on a cul-de-sac just off the main route from town to a few big housing estates. People used to take a small detour to our street to have their full-blown drunken screaming rows in 'private'

I used to lie there having violent fantasies about cauldrons of boiling oil and savage slavering dogs!

I have the same issue, my block of flats is on the road that leads in to our development, and our flat specifically is next to the pavement leading in.
Most Friday and/or Saturday nights I am usually seething at some point, on numerous occasions I have had to yell 'will you piss off home!' like a fishwife from my window.
I have also found empty beer bottles and cans, and on one occasion a half eaten kebab left on DD's outer window sill.

I think I am v lucky - we have a pub right outside our back door and people often stand in the alley and smoke. But they never kick off, and the worst you might get is an argument about which is better, the Mclaren F1 or the Bugatti Veyron.
That one lasted quite some time, finally finished off by someone stating that the best car of all time was the Ford Fiesta. Then they went in for a game of snooker.
Agree loud drunks should be tasered. Or doused in cat piss. Horrible behaviour.

Last week my upstairs neighbour came home pissed. Started to run a bath and fell asleep whilst the bath was running.

How do I know? The wonderful fountain of cascading water that ran down my utility room wall, into my hall and lounge. Now have to have workmen in to take up ceiling tiles damaged by flood, take up laminate floor etc.

Was fed up with him using my balcony as a large ashtray, but this takes the biscuit. Hope his landlord throws him out.

I think its the same people each time as you can go for a few weeks with just the odd pissed up fight but then after a few weeks again you get the door knocking and hysterical laughter as they run off . I just think how sad and empty must their lives be if this is their entertainment for a saturday eve! Even sadder is the fact Im not alone and other people are also suffering!!!
