I think wherever possible (i.e older babies onwards) buggies should be folded up. I am so tired of these oversized contraptions being pushed through the aisles, banging passengers thighs and shoulders as the squeeze talong a narrow aisle. I have had my ankles knocked todday and somehow had to squeeze against another passenger along the crowded aisle to make room for yet another buggy.
Theworst thing I have witnesses was a wheeelchair user being denied access onto the bus because there was already a buggy in the wheelchair space. The buggy owner didn't offer to fold up and got off a few stops later.

Though I would ALWAYS fold or get off if a wheelchair needed to get on the bus. It's not the people with buggies you should be moaning about, it's the drivers that don't stick to the rules, and don't MAKE people fold when a wheelchair needs access.

i've folded my buggy up before when a wheel chair user has come on the bus and at the time ds was 8months old, a kind old lady offered to hold ds while i did it and when it was time to get off someone kindly took my buggy off the bus and folded it up for me.

ds is almost 3 but is an excellent walker so i rarely use the pushchair but when he was really really tiny i'd take the travel system so if i had to fold down i could unclip the car seat and it left enough hands to fold the pushchair down

Other people should be just as respectful towards us women with buggies as they are to anyone else on the bus. It seems that people expect respect from us mothers but refuse to give an ounce of respect towards us in return. If our newborns need to be in buggies then tough shit I will move to accommodate others if possible but I certainly wouldn't go as far as getting off a bus and newborn buggies or at least correctly made newborn buggies don't fold up.

The thing is, buses are often busy and moving and short of space as you have already identified. A seat to put a child on isn't always near the front of the bus. It just isn't always that easy. It makes me angry that a buggy is seen as a luxury. Of course wheelchairs should take priority but how often do able bodied adults travelling alone get off the bus to let them on? Did anyone offer to help fold the buggy or make room for her? Surely the person caring for one or more small children is one of the people who needs a bit more help. It would be nice if instead of tutting and judging parents with buggies (in some people's eyes it seems to mean you are automatically "entitled" or "inconsiderate") the automatic response was to help out. If more people offered to give a hand then problems like this wouldn't arise.

zombie thread!!

taybert · 08/03/2017 17:39

Aaaaargh!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 08/03/2017 17:41

Nanny Why are you posting on all these Zombie threads about buggies on buses? Start a thread if you really need to rather than being a GF!

MsHooliesCardigan · 08/03/2017 17:48

Nannygirl You obviously feel very strongly about this. Do you have any other interests apart from 'us women with buggies?'

SpackenDeDoich · 08/03/2017 17:48

Back in the day when I had buggies the driver wouldn't let you on the bus unless the buggy was already folded

Dontactlikeyouknowme · 08/03/2017 17:51

I read the title as budgies. Would have been a much more interesting thread to revive.

SpackenDeDoich · 08/03/2017 17:51

Ffs just realised it's a zombie thread Confused

LucklessMonster · 08/03/2017 17:51

Who cares if it's a zombie thread? The situation hasn't changed. Entitled cunts with buggies are still causing problems daily.

ilovesooty · 08/03/2017 18:05

And still being GFs on here.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/03/2017 18:08

And how do you suggest mother's without cars get about. Hire a private jet.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/03/2017 18:09

Janey50 · 08/03/2017 21:41

I misread the word 'buggies' in the OP as 'budgies'.Grin

WaitrosePigeon · 08/03/2017 21:43

Nanny why are you obsessed with this topic?

Applebite · 08/03/2017 21:43

Dawndonnaagain · 08/03/2017 21:43

Fuck off Nanny you tried this the other week with a different zombie thread. You'll only get the same result. Stop being a gf.
Reported.

PickAChew · 08/03/2017 21:43

The problem with budgies on buses is that they fly around and shit on your head.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/03/2017 21:45

Those budgies are too cute.

Iwannasnack · 08/03/2017 21:49

2 pages in before I realised it's a zombie. What's gf though?

ArmySal · 08/03/2017 21:53

ArmySal · 08/03/2017 21:54
