Its annoying me now!

The stitches are out and it looks great even if still bruised. But the skin is peeling off every time i change the dressing. Its itching and I want to have a proper shower without holding that hand away from the water.

Ok i am BU but i really have had enough of the dressing now!

Normally I would say yes, rip it off but I seem to have a recollection that this was a really nasty injury so do what you have been told. Naughty woman!

If it makes you feel any better the person I know who had the similar injury has her bandage off now, the finger and nail looks perfect if a little smaller than it was. She still has a sock type dressing to keep it protected while it's still healing.

I only posted to distract myself from riping it off.

I am past the sock type dressing now just have like a sticky gauze on it and a vaseline dressing to soften skin which was operated on.

OUCH - Hope it heals quickly . I would leave it covered up for a bit longer just to keep it clean .

I'd take it off, have a good hour of air then reapply it. The reason for the itching is the healing that's taking place and you must know by now that wounds heal best in a moist environment.
