AIBU to make my indoor living dog sleep outside in a kennel now that she's moulting everywhere?

lol vallhala just the the thought of my shepard with a bald body and a big lions ruff round her neck! people always say to me oh get your dog clipped, so true my long haired Shepard would look ridiculous as well.
OP i really do think this is a joke as you don't seem to be taking anyones advice. never mind you will be the one with the noise control knocking on your door because your dog is howling and barking. don't own a bludy dog if you cant be bothered with the hassle you should have researched the breed before taking on a long haired dog.

Talking of animal cruelty, I have a dog that I haven't fed, groomed or walked in over hmmmm 5 months

SweatyBettyLikesItOnTheSettee · 08/10/2011 20:51

Why would i be on the cider?

I drink Lambrini when i do drink, which isn't very often.

Why is it cruel for a dog to sleep in a kennel.?

Piglet is that because his name is Pluto and he sits on the end of a DCs bed with a pair of pyjamas stuffed into his belly?

hmc · 08/10/2011 20:53

Yabu - I have to hoover daily because my long haired dog sheds constantly. Frankly it is no biggie. Don't be so idle!

pigletmania · 08/10/2011 20:54

Ha nearly Valhulla its my Nintendo DS dog called cuddles Grin

Signet2012 · 08/10/2011 20:54

balls of fur ahem

It is a problem OP and in this case I get up, walk to me understairs cupboard, get out my hoover and get rid. Job done x 3 times a day. Pain in the arse, yes but then he has been a pain in the arse since I got him and I wouldnt have him any other way!

Dogs moult, if she had been outside since the beginning then she would be equipped to deal with it but she hasnt. she will think she is being put away from her pack and it will upset her.

Mines currently laid on the settee with me, watching x factor, drooling, snoring and twitching like an epileptic in a rave. His farts are tremendous and he randomly jumps up barking at absolutely feck all for no good reason..... I revel in every minute of it because he is getting old and I know our times are limited now.... its only a bit of hair OP

before anyone reports me to MNHQ and calls the RSPCA on me

Vallhala · 08/10/2011 20:55

Ah, close but no cigar then, eh Piglet? :o

pigletmania · 08/10/2011 20:56

no [Vall]

Pudding2be · 08/10/2011 20:56

Vallhala - if it's baking hot in the summer would you leave a dog with thick long hair uncut just because that's how the breed is? I've always found it quite cruel to put vanity before comfort

pigletmania · 08/10/2011 20:56

meant no Vall too tired, dd kept me up most of last night

Mine is brown (and a girl). You'd never describe her as placid well you might if you were taking the piss. She's like a big over friendly, cuddly teddy bear on amphetamines. But the browns are allegedly more lively than the blacks, anyway.

pigletmania · 08/10/2011 20:57

Think I might get a goldfish

Vallhala · 08/10/2011 20:57

Tsk, Signet, you have no pooch pictures on your profile. Most unsatisfactory, consider your knuckles rapped girl! :o

Whatcha got?

GarrottingItLaldy · 08/10/2011 20:57

Sorry...that post was inresponse to Valhalla

Vallhala · 08/10/2011 20:59

Pudding, re-read what I said about clipping long-haired breeds please, your answer's already there.

GarrottingItLaldy · 08/10/2011 21:01

pudding, a double coated dog with a correct coat should be able to withstand extremes of temperature because the coat is designed to insulate against cold and heat. That's why they shed...to regulate the coat in accordance with climatic conditions. we artifically alter those conditions by keeping them indoors in cebtrally heated houses.

Vallhala · 08/10/2011 21:01

Ooooh! Lovely, GIL.

Envy

Last time I saw a brown was about 3 years ago, you don't get many, do you? Didn't know that they were nuttier than blacks (though doubt your Newfie girl could beat my younger GSD boy in the fruitloop stakes).

Signet2012 · 08/10/2011 21:01

Oh Ill try and upload one... he is a cross between a border collie and a springer spaniel.

Eyes and ears of a spaniel, little tiny head big fat neck and cylinder body with long legs and a fat arse. Love him to bits.

:) Signet. A fellow rescuer pal has a Sprollie. He came over as a stray from an Irish pound and is now, 5 years on, wiping the floor with most pedigrees on the agility circuit.

He's non stop though, I'm too old for Borders and Springers, now I'm in my 40s I appreciate dogs who have off buttons!
