What is it with this bunch of sinister rabble?

Sweatily huddled together, muttering and sighing to themselves in the shadowy corners of MN.

Watching with wide eyes and adrenaline pumping as yet another OP goes down with five or six posters snarling and ripping at the fleshy parts of their dilemma, whilst another bangs the back door on their arse.

Occasionally tempted to post by particularly juicy dreadful threads, the innocent start their posts 'I'm usually just a lurker, but...' takes on a different meaning when you have the knowledge it's a sign to others of their ilk that The Day of Reckoning is near.

On the appointed day, it has been prophesised that The Lurkers (who outnumber posters 6 to 1) will be stirred from their graves self doubting insecurity and kill us all horribly all take the plunge to post at once, this will set in motion a state of affairs so terrible, I tremble at the power.

So let's have a look at you while you reassure us the rumours aren't true.

Or maybe someone who's escaped this groups clutches can enlighten us as to the reason they decided to live this shadowy existance, and how they managed to break away?

Either way

SPEAKETH LURKER! REVEAL THY EVIL PLANS!

never even heard of 'flaming' until now! That's how lurkworthy I am!

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 07/10/2011 21:21

The thing is, although I do post occasionally - I've evn started a few threads of my very own! - generally by the time I get to a thread everything I want to post has already been posted and i refuse to become an "I agree with X" poster so i don't post. Also when I do post, I generally egt ignored Sad so I rarely bother. [shrug]

RedSlippers · 07/10/2011 21:21

Enters thread VERY nervously.... I stumbled on MN whilst looking for conception information (also stumbled over net mums but quickly new it wasn't for me and withdrew), and I seriously lurked on conception board, letting others ask all the stupid questions I wanted info on.
THEN... one day, someone on the conception boards posted a link to a AIBU thread, and I have been hooked ever since!
I AM lurking on here- have never posted on here before, but if someone posted a AIBU that I felt strongly opinionated about I def would post. I guess the ones so far haven't drawn me in enough.... until now!!

AgentZigzag · 07/10/2011 21:25

Now I know you're not a lurker aldi, which has me wondering why you'd throw your lot in with The Lurkers.

Hmmmm...?

I can only conclude you're a reformed Lurker and still have contacts within The Lurker underworld.

Anything you can talk openly about?

Is it possible to be lurksome and hitting the vinna rouge at the same time? Mutually incompatible activities I feel....

Abcinthia · 07/10/2011 21:30

I suppose I'm a lurker.

I do occassionally go crazy though and reply to several different topics in one day. Once, I even got a message in my inbox and I nearly fainted from shock.

Pollykitten · 07/10/2011 21:30

Maryz, I thought about being called homespunmacaroni666 but it was already taken

BaronessBomburst · 07/10/2011 21:31

I lurk by day and post by night, once DH and DS are asleep. I'm a double agent, you see. damn! wasn't suppose to have revealed that

BloodandScumatron · 07/10/2011 21:33

how often do you have to post to qualify as no longer lurking?

i still think of myself as a lurker even though i have been posting for years. I don't get the chance to post as much as i would like to, but i manage a post or two a day.

Madamolive · 07/10/2011 21:34

I was forced to finally log in... Im a lurker who is only a lurker cause i can not be assed to press log in and type in my horrendously long password,

Thanks, thanks alot

AgentZigzag · 07/10/2011 21:34

The Lurkers know you're not one of them Maryz.

It's a nice thread as I think most lurkers want to be brought out

lemonbalm · 07/10/2011 21:37

No, no...I'm a hunter...and I smell blood...

Got me own horse and everything.

DressDownFriday · 07/10/2011 21:39

Well since we're all coming out of the woodwork...

I've been lurking on here for the last 2 months. I can't remember how I came across the site but have been leaning towards the humerous threads rather than looking for advice or help.

I've never felt confident enough to post on any thread and other posters seem to sum up my feelings anyway.

On the plus side - I've added a fair few new put downs and swear words to my collection. Grin

AgentZigzag · 07/10/2011 21:40

Change your password to lurker MadamO?

Do it now while you're thinking of it.

Madamolive · 07/10/2011 21:43

Changed password... took 5 attempts to log back in after forgetting new password

TigBits · 07/10/2011 21:54

My only evil plans are to swap my empty wine glass for DH's almost full one while he is distracted by his xbox.

Belmo · 07/10/2011 21:54

I'm a bit lurky! I'm only new, though :o and you're all funnier than me!

DressDownFriday · 07/10/2011 22:00

Hang on a minute...now you've drawn us all out into the open - what's going to happen? Hmm
