before jumping in and criticising the conventions of the forum hither and thither and then threatening to flounce in a massive hissy fit?

It could be a new game to find the best other site to send newbies to. Prizes for the best matchmaker.

usualsuspect · 07/10/2011 21:20

Maybe if you have been here for ages ,you just get jaded with it all

I cba with all the NMs V MN threads

lemonbalm · 07/10/2011 21:22

Surprising, though, when there are so many topics.

And so many interesting new people to talk to.

Hassled · 07/10/2011 21:30

I'm with scottishmummy. Early on I got a "yawn, search the archives" response to what I thought was a reasonable question, and it still pisses me off. I still harbour a bit of a grudge against the poster who said it. It's that "we're the Big Girls in the Playground" mentality - not what a parenting forum should be about. And yes, as hells1908 said, new mothers are created all the time - of course the conventions will be challenged along the way. That's a good thing.

Agree re the not moaning about the swearing thing, though.

Fixture · 07/10/2011 21:35

It's interesting when newbies join and give their opinion on what they find. Better than becoming too insular and set in our ways!

lemonbalm · 07/10/2011 21:35

SM is right about there being a lot less brown nosing now, too.

doesntfitin · 07/10/2011 21:37

I saw a thread the other day where some posters said 'don't worry the big giirls are here now'

Says it all really

scottishmummy · 07/10/2011 21:43

It's the oldies who moan the most from what I see - honestly you'd think some of them had actually given birth to mumsnet they're so protective of it - makes me laugh.

I'm with SM.

IHaveYourToaster · 07/10/2011 22:16

Ive seen it about 3 times in last fortnight and every time it was referring to Olivia, Rowan, Rebecca or Helen Mumsnet posting on a thread.

But I don't do the cliquey threads so maybe it means something different on those Wink

scottishmummy · 07/10/2011 22:18

Most vociferous grumblers are not like ole days crew

doesntfitin · 07/10/2011 22:20

It wasn't MNHQ

It may have been a joke ,but it made me a bit Hmm

I think it's rude to put comments on people's threads commenting that there's been a similar thread recently so etc. Of course the same questions or problems recur over and over, because there are new posters all the time. I don't really get why people don't just read the threads they're interested in and leave the rest.

FunnysInTheGarden · 07/10/2011 22:53

when we were new we got the shit kicked out of us, so why not the newbies

scottishmummy · 07/10/2011 22:54
