To be appalled by the bad language used on this forum

I know I will probably be shot down as I am a newbie on here but I recently found this site whilst searching for something and found the AIBU threads very interesting. I find it intriguing how different people react to the same situation and it really makes you realise that we are not all the same, and the world is better for it.

What I have found so appalling though is the frequent use of swearing throughout these posts. I have been truly shocked by this as it is a forum used mainly by parents. Is this the example to set children?

There is something about swearing in writing which makes it so much worse than in conversation, although that is not nice either. It seems so much more deliberate in writing.

When did it become acceptable to use such language unnecessarily and excessively just for effect?

Yep. Cows cows on iPad.

Definitely not trying to sext about cows.

spiderslegs · 06/10/2011 18:43

excitedLJ · 06/10/2011 18:45

well pag as excitable as i am, i am yet to come across anything on this website that has truly sent me over the edge. If i do i shall name change for the occassion - would hate for someone of your impeccable mental state to appear deranged in any way

JamieComeHome · 06/10/2011 18:46

I Need at "nut up or shut up"

vixsatis · 06/10/2011 18:47

OP Are you my mother?

Are you going to follow this up with "There's nothing worse than a woman drunk"?

thefirstMrsDeVere · 06/10/2011 18:47

What is so wrong about swearing on an internet forum for adults?

There is a hell of a lot worse happening on the web. Swearing comes way down on my list.

I LIKE swearing but I dont get to do it much due to be surrounded by kids at home and at work.

It helps me to swear. Its less damaging than drinking too much.

Its fine not to like swearing but its also fine to love it.

See! got through the whole fucking post without a single wanking swearword.

spiderslegs · 06/10/2011 18:47

Mmmm, not being down with the smart device users I don't have auto-correct problems.

I did once send a load of letters to people in Lancashite though. Mind you I am from Yorkshire so it was probably more of a Freudian slip than a typo.

LissieLovettsDeliciousPies · 06/10/2011 18:48

Op, yes. See ya.

JamieComeHome · 06/10/2011 18:49

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/10/2011 18:53

Moomoo44 - don't read www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1312505-Was-I-being-unreasonable-to-laugh-at-dh-for-this this]] thread of mine - you will be shocked beyond belief by the rudery on there, and by my atrocious parenting!

BOOareHaunting · 06/10/2011 18:53

I don't swear much here - although I PMSL at some of the sweary expressions. 'cuntychops' springs to mind!

I do however think I should make more of a conscious effort too after I accidently called DS (7) a 'fucking knob' for coming home from school in a shirt - in the pissing rain. Hmm He had left his coat and jumper at school. Confused

fabby Grin I like the mellower you!

AND WTF is it with people who have 'moo' in their name? Hmm

crazynannawitchbitch · 06/10/2011 18:53

OP's name sounds familiar Confused

I find all this wankcuntery quite offensive.

Why don't you all fuck off and stop swearing, you foul mouthed slimy felchy prolapsed arses.

BOOareHaunting · 06/10/2011 18:59

It was said with a sigh and resigned expression. DS just looked Shock and then ROFL. Actually should I be concerned all he said was 'whats a knob' Grin

Pagwatch · 06/10/2011 19:00

Lancashite Grin

ScarletLady01 · 06/10/2011 19:00

Personally I swear like a sailor most of the time...though I do watch myself around children. I'm loving the fact you're not censored here (I'm quite new myself).

People make far too much of swear words...they're just words. It's not what you say it's the way you say it.

Plus living with a DH who's so cockney it hurts kind of desensitises you to it.

GypsyMoth · 06/10/2011 19:03

Has the op gone now do you think??
