To be appalled by the bad language used on this forum

I know I will probably be shot down as I am a newbie on here but I recently found this site whilst searching for something and found the AIBU threads very interesting. I find it intriguing how different people react to the same situation and it really makes you realise that we are not all the same, and the world is better for it.

What I have found so appalling though is the frequent use of swearing throughout these posts. I have been truly shocked by this as it is a forum used mainly by parents. Is this the example to set children?

There is something about swearing in writing which makes it so much worse than in conversation, although that is not nice either. It seems so much more deliberate in writing.

When did it become acceptable to use such language unnecessarily and excessively just for effect?

See ,this is what's wrong with our society today. So many people see something and immediately start muscling in to change it to their warped beliefs.

If you don't like it stay away , if you like some parts but not others start your own forum with lots of rules and tickers .No doubt there is a small area of interest in such things.
This is an organic forum .It has developed just the way 100s of users want it to be and are very comfortable with thank you.
I will not swear at you as I generally dont swear -but I will defend to the death the right of others to do so in their own space.

Now , off you pop.

I say "rats!" and "sugar" in front of the DCs

Occasionally I flick them the V's from behind a closed door

Anus anus is what you get if you type cous cous and your phone tries to help with predictive text.

Flamingredhead · 06/10/2011 18:26

scaredbear i think the flowery cunt was better Grin oh and Op funny enough i mange to refrain from swearing at my kids in rl .Though i may have told my late teens ds what he could do once or twice but teens dont count Grin and when out and and about

Proudnscary · 06/10/2011 18:27

Ok look let's give this no swearing thing a go.

Perhaps a new Alternatives To Swear Words table as follows:

Fuck - fairy
Piss - pork
Cunt - candle

So for example one could say 'OP why the fairy don't you pork off you candle'

CotherMuckingFuntingZombie · 06/10/2011 18:27

Mind you, ds did once ask me what an 'AnyFucker' was. So I have to agree with you op. We should all stop fucking swearing because now my child is ruined for fucking life. He said a bad word and has never repeated it since but I just know that somewhere inside him is an evil fount of shit just waiting to spurt out. We're all fucking doomed.

JamieComeHome · 06/10/2011 18:27

pag- you and your predictive text.

FabbyChic · 06/10/2011 18:27

I think the OP has gone, she has gone to get some soap to wash the screen, some swear words she would never have seen before.

KatAndKit · 06/10/2011 18:28

oh fairy nuggets. I have got pork all over my candle.

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 06/10/2011 18:28
Ariesgirl · 06/10/2011 18:29

Perhaps it hasn't crossed your mind that in all probability there is no way parents on here would use these words in front of their kids. So it's not setting a bad example at all is it? Just because you sometimes swear it doesn't mean you do it all the time in front of everyone. Jeez.

ColdSancerre · 06/10/2011 18:29

Cous cous

OK my iPhone is better behaved than most as it didnt auto correct.

GeraldineAubergine · 06/10/2011 18:29

I have been on a course this week and the lecturer keeps saying 'cockrobin' 'thingy' and 'flange' when she gets stressed. She has a rude word for a name too which is making me giggle inappropriately.
