A purple faux fur coat?

Which is exactly what my DH has just brought back from Asda for our 3 month old daughter. Confused

Acandlelitshadow · 04/10/2011 11:17

It's lovely he's bought her something and even if you don't like it she'll outgrow it soon enough. It looks very cute though Smile

MumblingRagDoll · 04/10/2011 11:17

My DH took DD to nursery in a weird outfit with unbrished "Russel Brand" hair yesterday. I was Blush when she came home with her hair brushed and clipped. The nursery workers hopefully knew it was DH and not me who sent her like that!

charitygirl · 04/10/2011 11:21

Finally I agree with FabbyChic on something!

AKMD · 04/10/2011 11:21

YABU, just be thankful that he didn't see fit to buy Nike trainers (thanks DH Hmm) or a red Lonsdale trackuit (thanks BIL Hmm) and then insist that she wear them. I was nerly too embarrassed to go out Blush

Pagwatch · 04/10/2011 11:23

I love it

The babies get all the good shit.

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 04/10/2011 11:30

I know there's a pair of baby Nike's on their way to us when our LO is born. It has took me the whole pregnancy to mentally prepare for receiving them. I am 30 weeks, and failing.

There is NO excuse for them.

Poledra · 04/10/2011 11:30

Pagwatch - the body of a 50 40 year old, the taste of a 3 year old Grin

PS I like the coat, my DDs all wore something similar at 18 months old, passed own from my nieces.

TheControversialJessie · 04/10/2011 11:34

I like the coat.

There is, however, no excuse for skinny jeans or trainers on a baby. When I rule the UK, there are going to be serious changes around here.

AKMD · 04/10/2011 11:34

LikeACandle if you can get away with it, put them on once, take a photo and gush over how cute they are, then charity shop.

QuintessentialDread · 04/10/2011 11:36

She will forever sneeze and choke on all the fur. What a stupid garment for a baby.

AllGoodNamesGone · 04/10/2011 12:09

AngryBeaver my parents have a hysterical school photo of me and my sis taken one day when Mum was ill and Dad dressed us. Even for the 70's our clothes were so badly mismatched you wonder how on earth he managed it! Poor Mum didn't know whether to laugh or cry when we brought it home but they treasure it now Grin

Pagwatch · 04/10/2011 13:11

Grin Pol

Actually the body of a 5040 year old is more accurate today.

One of the things ds1 took to uni was a photo of him dressed as Santa at about 8 months old. He likes to keep the evidence of all the awful gimmicky outfits we put him in as proof that we are awful parents. I like the bear outfit with floppy ears best. He looked great on that.

nickelbabe · 04/10/2011 13:15

oh god, please don't tell me that on top of everything else i'm worrying about, I have to worry about DH dressing DC really badly and leaving it unkempt?
:(

Pandemoniaa · 04/10/2011 13:39

In our family, ds1 has never quite lived down the day when he was 20 months old and it was discovered his father had used a checked tea-towel as a nappy (long story but I was away with 8 week old ds2 and the lazy sod ex-h had allowed normal nappy washing systems to break down completely).

So this particular faux fur coat seems entirely harmless and I'm normally the veritable Duchess of Judgemental-Pantes so far as baby girl clothes are concerned. Admittedly, I came to this conclusion this was after visiting the link because beforehand I had visions of something made out of psychedelic astroturf.

MumblingRagDoll · 04/10/2011 13:50

Yes Nickelbabe you do. I haven't met a Dad yet who could manage to wash, brush, dress AND feed the DC for school or nursery without help.

They cut corners.....pick up yesterday's socks....th siblings t shirt...they shove them all on and dont wipe faces much either.

Of course there MUST be exceptions...but I haven't met them yet.

PetiteRaleuse · 04/10/2011 13:54

YABU. It's quite nice and she won't be wearing it for long

PetiteRaleuse · 04/10/2011 13:55

Pagwatch I agree - they do get all the good stuff. My sister has recently sent me a raincoat for DD and I wish they did it in my size.

My DH FWIW has far better taste in clothes than I do. I love it when he picks stuff out for me and DD.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 04/10/2011 13:57

That is nothing. Someone bought my DD
this

begonyabampot · 04/10/2011 13:58

my neighbour dressed her baby in a red leather jacket, twas very fetching!

CogitoErgoSometimes · 04/10/2011 14:00

No-one should wear a fur coat (faux or otherwise) when it's 26C outside....

lovingthecoast · 04/10/2011 14:04

Personally, I like 3mth old babies in baby clothes not small versions of older children's clothes or adult clothes. Jeans are worse than most other stuff though! If she was 2yrs, then it would be fine but I'd have her in a snuggle suit at 3mths.

But I have to say how disappointed I am to read all this crap about how lucky the OP is that her DH bought something as if he's totally incapable of shopping. Worse still the posts about fathers not coping getting kids ready for school. A tad unreasonable and sexist IMO but I know this is a lighthearted thread.

lovingthecoast · 04/10/2011 14:06

Oh Good heavens, musttidy! That is truly hideous! We gave away bags and bags of similar stuff to charity all with tags still on. Including the pair of newborn Lacrosse trainers that someone bought us for DS1! Hmm

Pandemoniaa · 04/10/2011 14:06

Lawks but that's possibly the vilest baby garment I've ever seen, musttidyupmusttidyup.

lovingthecoast · 04/10/2011 14:07

Sorry that should be Lacoste, not lacrosse! Grin

musttidyupmusttidyup · 04/10/2011 14:15

Thanks for the sympathy. I had to smile and thank when I opened it. It came with a matching pair of Disney harem style jeans. Im a bit miffed that anyone (esp family) would think I would dress my beautiful girl in that!
