A purple faux fur coat?

Which is exactly what my DH has just brought back from Asda for our 3 month old daughter. Confused

You may not like it but I remember complainig to DH he didn't get envolved enough an then one day he bought DD an outfit which I hated but to see te smile on his face and how pleased he was with himself all I thought to myself was "let it be, she won't for in it for long". Make the man happy and put the baby in the coat as often as you can. He'll feel really good.

MissBeehiving · 03/10/2011 21:49

I had the most adorable white faux fur coat when I was a toddler. I looked tres cute in it and it had hardly any lasting effects apart from a bit of a fashion obsession.

LynetteScavo · 03/10/2011 21:52

This is why most Dads are too scared to buy clothes for their daughters.

MissBeehiving · 03/10/2011 21:53

Actually, on second thoughts, KEEP THE BABY AWAY FROM THE FAUX FUR otherwise she'll end up posting on S & B and may turn into Tethers Wink

babycham42 · 03/10/2011 22:01

Your DH rocks.I think you"re very lucky.

My DH hated me dressing DD"s in anything with ears when they were babies.

Of course,it didn"t stop me....

fannybaws · 03/10/2011 22:02

Yanbu my poor premie DS went home from hospital in this
1.bp.blogspot.com/_C27JdJUE1hM/TJTaxF8qA3I/AAAAAAAAAJY/vgh2nuvzzU4/s1600/snow+suit.jpg
also bought by dad Smile
The nurses in SCBU were pissing themselves.

Midori1999 · 03/10/2011 22:03

I'm a useless liar and he knows I hate it. It is indeed the one on the link, but it looks ok on the website, in RL it looks really old ladyish.

We don't usually buy her clothes (or anything really) unless we're both there. I have put things back before because DH doesn't like them and we've seen a few faux fur coats and he knew they weren't my taste. We also decided she doesn't really need a proper coat until she's a bit older.

I wouldn't put it on DD when I'm with her, but DH is welcome to if he wants.

We've had a good laugh anyway.

fannybaws (great name) thats a darth vader stealth suit

Faffalina · 03/10/2011 22:07

I like that he went and bought her a coat Smile

Eglu · 03/10/2011 22:11

fannybaws that is just truly awful. Black for a newborn Grin

Muddlewitch · 03/10/2011 22:11

I like that he did that too.

Incidentally, jeans without belts? Are we really not supposed to do that? Confused

Midori1999 · 03/10/2011 22:16

I've read the replies to him and he's very pleased with himself now. Grin

He is lovely and I am lucky, we just have completely different taste in things.

YABU My oldest DD had a pink faux fur body warmer thing and she lved it. She was 1 and it was her fave. They're babies. Clothing should be fun sometimes!

Especially if Daddy chose it.

tethersend · 03/10/2011 22:24

"Actually, on second thoughts, KEEP THE BABY AWAY FROM THE FAUX FUR otherwise she'll end up posting on S & B and may turn into Tethers "

BertieBotts · 03/10/2011 22:25

Oh well, tiny babies look like wrinkled old men anyway, at least it will make it obvious she's supposed to be an old woman Grin

I'd rather that than a snowsuit - poor babies hate being mauled in and out of those and then overheat constantly because you can't take it on and off quickly!

BertieBotts · 03/10/2011 22:26

But to be fair I prefer blankets to coats in general for babies.

mycatsaysach · 03/10/2011 22:29

oh its sweet
dd had a white furry coat when she was tiny and even had a furry purple number for her very first school coat (i know i know we had a lot of arguments in shop about that one) Smile

Aww it's well cute! Pictured a scary carnaby street style full on 70,s fur trim.

Was in Zara with DD1 (7) last sat and she was describing clothes (loudly) as being made of weasel fur or goats skin, the funniest was a big black fluffy gilet she called Gorilla chest just as a lady far older than I wouldve expected to see in there was holding it up admiringly. They make some weird gear these days.

FabbyChic · 03/10/2011 22:32

Babies should not wear jeans either.

scottishmummy · 03/10/2011 22:41

no no to babies in replica sports wear,headbands,shoes/trainers before they can walk

faux fur is no indiscretion

Pixel · 03/10/2011 22:51

Dh came home with a white lacy dress for dd when she was about 6 months. I cringed inwardly because it was horrid nylon sort of fake satin but he was so pleased I didn't say anything. Actually dd looked quite sweet in it and at least it didn't need ironing. Grin She 'outgrew' it after a few weeks and dh was none the wiser. YABU to spoil your dh's fun considering how quickly 3 month olds grow anyway.

MumblingRagDoll · 04/10/2011 11:07

My mate puts her 10 month old in SKINNY JEANS! His little fat rolls are bursting out and he cant crawl properly. Sad I had to say something....she was all Shock because you don't do you? Tell a Mum that he baby looks uncomfortable....but I just had to!

AngryBeaver · 04/10/2011 11:16

My friend is a GP and she says she can always tell if a dad has dressed the child they bring in to see her!
Likewise, when I am in hospital and dh brings the kids to visit,I always cringe at what he has put them in. I'm astounded at his idea of what constitutes matching!
It is nice that your Dh bought his dd something and that coat is nice than I was picturing in my head..at first I thought, uugh Bett Lynch number!
Still, I prefer paler colours for under 1's and something like a snowsuit is easier to get on and looks more comfortable.
If dh had bought it for one of mine I'd say "Aww,...erm,did you keep the receipt?"Wink
