I am fat, obese etc etc.

I am 7 stone overweight and hate it.

I am a health professional educated to postgraduate degree level.

I have tried diets and seem to be able to drop a stone easily then it goes tits up. I look at fat people and think it looks horrible and I think they are stupid for the health risks etc but I still cannot seem to control my eating. I cannot look at myself in the mirror.

AIBU to have no idea why the fuckkity why I cant just stop eating too much and drop some weight ?

candid try the extra easy plan... if its free on 'red or green' its free on extra easy. The magazines are FAB for recipes ideas, if you ever want any info feel free to pm me. I would say though, my friend does it online and though has had some success I have had more, but I go to group, stay to group, love my group. Sometimes it works better to natter with others, even if you hate the idea of group therapy!

Am I the only one who gets on a treadmill and stops when I've earned a creme egg?

I need to find exercise I LOVE... and apart from Just Dance or the Wii (I do a great Mc Hammer) I'm a little lost.

I have reoccuring dreams about running, but I run like Phoebe off Friends.

aldiwhore, I find it's easier to talk with other people who have similar issues with food too. I think issues around food and what it means to us is a HUGE problem for alot of women and knowing it's just not you seems to help imo. I supopose it all comes back to, what works for you and making the most of that

fatlazymummy · 06/10/2011 12:22

aldiwhore have you got the wi fit? I find the wi fit game and the biggest loser game are both good. I am also working up to doing the Jillian Michaels shred. I have looked at it on You tube but I don't feel ready for it yet.
If you like dancing how about a dance class? I have started swimming again [after about 20 years], I absolutely love it. I literally can't wait to get back in the pool again.
I also do a few light weights, stepping and things like push ups, situps. 10 or 15 minutes here and there are quite easy to fit in.

aldiwhore · 06/10/2011 12:27

No Wii Fit, but thinking of getting the Zumba game?? Quite fancy that.

I do swim, and really go for it, but time is an issue...

I DO need to get ome muscle tone, I have none... and its more obvious now I've lost weight.

Shutupanddrive · 06/10/2011 18:29

I've got the wii fit, but dont really feel like I've had much of a workout after it. Try some DVDs? Davinas are supposed to be good. Maybe get second hand off eBay?

Shutupanddrive · 06/10/2011 18:30

Oh and horse riding!

FattyFattyBoomBoom · 06/10/2011 20:38

is the Wii fit any good ? I was thinking about asking for it for xmas. I would love to ride again but would need a cart horse at this weight. My dd is about to start rideing lessons so another incentive to shift the weight so I can join her !

I have done ok today but I am bloody starving. I have had a bath and covered myself in lovely body cream to try and take my mind off food.

My teeth are gritted and I am getting on with it.

Nah - I agree with Shutup - workout dvds like Davina Fit, Davina Buff, Nadia Sawahla's from Fat to fab and the Shred are better (in my opinion). I've been doing them for a year combined with running and I now look pretty ripped for an old gal

fatlazymummy · 06/10/2011 23:54

I love the wi fit. It depends on how much effort you put into it though. I do 40 minutes of aerobics per session and I do work up a sweat, then I do 20 minutes of the muscle workouts. There again it is starting to get a little bit easy for me. The thing is really to vary your exercise, as the body quickly gets used to doing a specific thing. I only do wi fit about twice a week now, usually at weekends when I can't go swimming or long walks.

FattyFattyBoomBoom · 09/10/2011 17:27

I would like to sat thankyou to projectbabyweight for pointing me in the direction of This book. It really is fab and I realise I have a problem and am just not a greedy guts !

well how are the other fatties getting on ? Any progress ?

I cannot do strict Cambridge and am now concentrating on eating more fruit and veg. I am eating for health and getting my head around that.

I find I put so much pressure on myself about food it makes it all worse so am trying to chill and just be healthy. It semes to be sinking in but it will take a long time to get over a lifetime of bad food / head realtionship.

We all love fast carbs like bread, sweets & chocolates, pastas, wine, cheese burgers etc. and these foods always make us tempted and we can't help binging on these. And our desire and cravings for these lead us to eat more and makes us fat-sacks. And when we gain pounds we get panic and will start fasting, which may lead us to eat more when we find terribly hungry and risk a junk-food binge later.

So the first step towards weight loss is self-determination to lose weight. Then choose a good diet plan that you find comfortable with and easy to carry on. A good diet plan doesn't mean to be vegetarian or that insists you to avoid fast carbs. The best diet always educate you how to include both fast and slow carbs in your each meal and thereby ignites weight loss. While you use fast carbs alone in your meals, your body is always on a fat-storing mode. And when you include some slow carbs in your diet and cut down the quantity of fast carbs, then your body will normally lose weight and at the same time you can eat your favorite fast carbs in required amount. And also add snacking in between meals so that you'll be full always and hunger pangs doesn't strike you any more.

@FattyFattyBoomBoom, you have mentioned that you are a health professional and obviously you may know all these facts I mentioned above. But still I thought a little motivation from our side can help you stick on to the right food habit and lose weight. Check this video I guess it can give you the right motivation.

Don't be panic dear, you can do it. If we ourselves are responsible for our weight gain, then we surely can be the reason for our weight loss too.
