to be unable to sleep. I'm in Japan and have to be up in 3 hours

Have you just got there. Is it jetlag? (I lived in Japan for 5 years and it always took a while to get back into the swing, if I'd been home). Cup of tea and reading a book works for me. Turn the computer off though. These things suck you in an you'll be up till dawn.

Just laying down as if you're going to sleep will give your body a bit of a rest, and you might drop off?

Even half an hour is better than nothing at all, you'll go into REM sleep straight away.

Are you only there for a short time and have jet lag or something?
