For the last twenty five minutes they have played piano music at me, thanking me for my patience. As they phoned me I can't use my phone to dial out.

Seriously this is really inconsiderate as well as being thoroughly annoying. Grrrhhhh

do you have a mobile? Contact your phoneline provider and ask them to clear the line for you. Or if you have someone with the same provider, use their phone to ring them

I do have a mobile, tbh we don't use the landline that much but its the principle! This would really unsettle my gran if this happened to her.
