I'm getting married in 2 weeks and I have occasional bouts of alopecia!!

I just brushed my hair before bed, and came away with a 50p sized bald spot!!

It is where my fringe starts, so very fucking visable.

I am getting married in two weeks, and with the best will in the world my hair will not grow back that quick.

You DON'T NEED TO REPLY, I just wanted to tell someone, anyone really, because I am so FUCKING ANGRY AND SO VERY SAD.
(I am going to bed now and as I work full time I will not be back on until tomorrow night.)

That sucks, I am mad for you. Can they do extensions or arrange a hair style to suit? Fascinator? I think everyone has something go wrong right before their wedding - spots or whatever preventing them from looking their best. So long as you are marrying the right guy, try to not get too stressed over it. Not easy I am sure! Good luck...

Poor you, what rubbish timing.

You can get special fibres to disguise bald patches, so the skin doesn't show where the hair's missing, there's one called Nanogen that some of my patients have used, not sure if it's stocked in any shops, or have to order online.

Oh what God awful timing!

Go and see a hair dresser ASAP, there are some fantastic false fringes these days and all sorts can be done to cover it. It only sounds like you'd need a bit of a cover up too and it might just need a rethink on hairstyles for your big day.

I have alopecia areata as well. I share your anger and frustration. The last time I had it I got really upset because no one understands what it's like. It's not a major disease that will kill you, and I felt vain and stupid complaining about a bald spot on my head, but I just hated hated hated it. And ppl offer all kinds of 'home remedies', none of which ever work. It's so annoying especially when there isn't really a 'cause' for it and you can't do much to help it grow back other than steroids. If it helps all three times I've had spots they've grown back, albeit over a few months. If it also helps, most people have said that if I hadn't pointed out the alopecia areata spots they wouldn't have noticed.

Many many many many hugs for how you're feeling. I hope that the hairdresser can sort something out...(I sweep my hair backwards with a tiny parting in the middle). Could you also think of flowers? But I'm sure you'll look beautiful on your wedding day and your other half will think so as well. You will look radiant and once your hair is done, please enjoy your big day- no one will notice, I promise, they'll be too busy celebrating with you :-) Many congratulations on your wedding btw!

I rang my hairdresser this morning, who said just come in straight from work, (she is so lovely, I then did cry, with relief!) She then spent an hour and half fiddling (carefully ) to rearrange my hairstyle to hide my bald spot. What a lovely young lady, it was after her work time and she wouldn't take any money either. So I am going to buy her a bottle, it is the least I can do. I went in to the salon feeling really low, and came out feeling really confident. I can honestly say I am never really bothered by my alopecia, especially because it is normally at the back of my head, but this was just the last straw.
