cos some folk seem to spend their lives here

I feel I'm on here quite a bit, maybe 30 mins most days, but I'm a minnow compared with some posters

There seems to be loads of follow up threads about previous threads, does anyone really spend so much time here they get involved with all that??

Beyond - your DH is on Mumsnet??!! Shock

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 26/09/2011 11:18

Is he Mitmoo????!!!!!

SarahStratton · 26/09/2011 11:22

You let your DH on here? Shock

hmc · 26/09/2011 11:25

garlic and rycooler - I feel a bit of a saddo admitting to 9 years Blush but I guess it must be something like that since dd was a tiny baby when I first logged on!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 26/09/2011 11:35

I did think he might be mitmoo for a bit. But his "trolling" is generally silly, rather than intentionally nasty. Grin

rycooler · 26/09/2011 11:42

hmc -. I've been on MN for 4 years ( on & off ) I'm 42 and feel positively ancient on here now - I can't imaging being here when I'm 50 still arguing with strangers about parking spaces - if I am, you have my permission to take me out the back and shoot me - Grin

Shinyshoes1 · 26/09/2011 11:48

too much time, I probably do an hour in the mornings and an hour or 3 in the afternoon, then quickly rush potter doing the housework before DP and DC's come home

OriginalPoster · 26/09/2011 11:50

I dip in and out, am on most days at some point. I find it more I interesting than tv, radio and podcasts, which is how I used to entertain myself when there is no one around. I've learnt a lot on here, so I don't see it as time wasted. I would think it totals an hour a day, but I'd be doing something elsse at the same time, like just now I'm having lunch, will go on again when cooking tea. Sometimes I do it in the bath.

When I'm away without Internet access, I never miss it. I must be fickle.

OriginalPoster · 26/09/2011 11:50

Not mitmoo btw Grin

SirSugar · 26/09/2011 11:55

In and out all day if not working, early morning and evening otherwise.....Everyone in the house shouts MUMSNET! if they come into the office and I'm on the computer.

If i'm not here its Ebay

MrsBlarney · 26/09/2011 11:57

yabu, it's really none of your business.

Pinot · 26/09/2011 11:57

I am never on Mumsnet.
It's just not for me.
I tried it for a week and didn't like it.
Nope, not al all.
No.
No.

HTH

SarahStratton · 26/09/2011 12:02

Got a dustbin with your name on it, in the basement. Pinot's on order, too. Grin

fastweb · 26/09/2011 12:03

Another feast or famine person.

If I'm in one of my "starved of English based conversation" moods

or recently all my friends seem interested solely in the long running conversation revolving around the Ironing Olympics and whohas done the most/has the most to do (I always lose, not sure where my iron is)

I'm in a panic about DS's school/working myself into a state

then I sort of live on here, in part to escape from RL and let being in an internet bubble give me enough of a break to recharge my batteries.

I also use this place to stop my brain turning into a cauliflower. I find it hard to discuss and debate in RL when I'm always the one with the disadvantage of a second language and the lack of a natural inclination to shout over people or all speak at once.

It does cut into my telly time though, the MySky hard drive is heaving at the moment.

But I guess that is normal, people's hobbies and freetime activities often go through periods of ups and downs, where one is focused on alot and the others take a back seat for a bit.

sjuperwolef · 26/09/2011 12:03

i pop in before school, after school drop off, after lunch, before tea and after bedtime. Grin

but im massively pregnant and hate watching telly and housework

Whatmeworry · 26/09/2011 12:20

Only over breakfast and during coffee breaks at my PC and any other time I can occasionally of a late evening.

TheGrassIsJewelled · 26/09/2011 12:21

Some days more than others. I have a 7mth DD, and I prefer it to watching TV while she naps.

Hassled · 26/09/2011 12:23

I dip in and out a lot. Am seldom actively MNing for more than about 5-10 minutes at any one time (unless it's X Factor night), but I'll have the tab open and have the odd look/make the odd post.

gethelp · 26/09/2011 12:44

Too much, but only came here about six weeks ago. Has opened my eyes no end, and made me laugh til I cried. And cried for some of the people here going through bloody awful times. If something is compelling sometimes here all day off and on.

MissPenteuth · 26/09/2011 13:02

At least a couple of hours a day. A bit when DD naps and a bit in the evening, usually. And if there are interesting threads on the go I may check them from time to time inbetween also.

SuePurblybilt · 26/09/2011 13:35

CBA to justify myself. Unless you'd like to describe what you do at every moment in a 24 hour period OP and let me judge that?

Be prepared to wear the 'I'm a big ol' hypocrite' hat if you watch telly, or facebook or get involved in long-running stories on soaps or radio plays though......

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 26/09/2011 13:47

8 - 10 hours Grin

I work at the computer all day and do some work then refresh active convos, if there's anything that takes my fancy I'll look, then minimise the tab and carry on working, then have a look a bit later...

if you add up actual time I spend on mn - not time logged in with window minimised, but actual reading and posting time, it would probably be an hour or two a day! Shock but I look like I am actually on all day because of how it's spaced.

I actually had to deregister for a few weeks when I had a tight deadline Blush

This thread took me a minute to scan through and another 30 seconds to type this. Now I'm going to go and do a DSE record of eyesight tests form and then probably go and refresh active convos again Grin

anewmotivatedme · 26/09/2011 13:51

15 minutes every few days.

rycooler · 26/09/2011 13:56

I had the ultimate MN saddo experience last night - something I always thought people made up. I dreamt about a M'netter.

And I liked it. >

MamaLazarou · 26/09/2011 14:02

About half an hour every week or two.
