Aibu that I have not had a pain free day this week

i have RA & am on lots of different meds.

I have just realised that this week I have not been pain free at all. I just went to post some letters & needed my walking stick it was 5 minutes there & back!

On top of that meds mean I shouldn't drink alcohol so can't even have glass of wine to cheer myself up.

So aibu?

Rant over

Are you being unreasonable to have not had a pain free day this week?

Well it's not as if you had a choice so how exactly could you be being unreasonable?

cjbartlett · 23/09/2011 14:40

aibu Hmm

wonkylegs · 23/09/2011 14:41

It's not exactly AIBU but I know where you are coming from
(fellow RA suffererSad)
Hope you feel a bit better soon

lolaflores · 23/09/2011 14:41

I have arthritis in my back. The pain is boring and frustrating and there seems some days to be this endless grinding slog. YANBU. take up cannabis!

Aftereightsaremine · 23/09/2011 14:42

My DH has RA so I can kind of guess how you are feeling you poor old thing. He takes methotrexate (which is I think the drug you are referring to) but his consultant has said that a pint of beer or a glass of wine is permissable just not on the day he takes the tablets or 24 hours either side. So he does unwind with a glass of red occasionally.

YANBU to want to rant about the pain, not at all. What pain killers are you on?

FilthyDirtyHeathen · 23/09/2011 14:46

Oh yes cannabis. I don't go round recommending it to anyone but DH does have a toot and he swears it helps better than anything.

Springyknickersohnovicars · 23/09/2011 14:47

Does it matter where the OP posts this? Someone has just said they're in constant pain and get told they're posting in the wrong place. Sad

All kinds of topics are posted here just dressed up as AIBU. Sorry OP I have to assume you've been back to your specialist/GP to get the pain relief upped if it is possible.

Aftereightsaremine · 23/09/2011 14:51

Seeing specialist in 3 weeks to discuss change in meds, again! So frustrating & annoying!

you poor thing, it's wretched.

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and I haven't had a pain free day in nearly 6 years. God that's awful written down.

I think with pain so much is about mentally fighting it - I find I can keep going even though the pain level might be the same or worse if I am mentally on top of it. TLC for yourself I think.

TrillianAstra · 23/09/2011 14:53

YANBU at all to be pissed off!

Dawndonna · 23/09/2011 14:55

DH has been in pain for 560 days. We have to write it down each day because he takes so many drugs.
Of course YANBU, you're understandably fed up, I hope things improve.

BoscoIsMyLover · 23/09/2011 14:56

RA Sufferer here too for 26 years now. Poor you... where are you based?

BoscoIsMyLover · 23/09/2011 15:02

Oh and I think anyone with RA is allowed to be unreasonable to a point Wink

wonkylegs · 23/09/2011 15:12

I'm on mtx, etodolac and humira still have the odd glass of wine, it's ok in moderation
I haven't been painfree for 13yrs Sad but I'm better than I was altho this week I'd happily saw my feet off!!

Aftereightsaremine · 23/09/2011 15:26

It's the bit 'in moderation' that I seem to have problems with!

Doobydoo · 23/09/2011 15:31

YANBU AT ALL.I am sorry for you it sounds awful.
I am still having tests etc for thingsHmm...have constant pain/discomfort and some days it really gets me down.I can,.however still have wineSmile I love it when my head feels clear as most of the time it feels dizzy[that prob makes no sense]So no Yanbu at all.

SerenityNOT · 26/10/2012 09:19

Don't know how long you've had RA, but have you asked for a review of meds lately? It might be worth a look into.

Mrsjay · 26/10/2012 09:24

chronic pain is an arse it just is , I have chronic pain something is always nagging away at me be it my leg my back or wherever, I hope you have a better day soon I however do drink wine Grin

disparatefishwife · 26/10/2012 09:32

I also 'suffer' chronic pain. It's a bitch. I am fed up with feeling miserable and limited, it's so depressing. I don't look 'ill' or disabled and feel guilty talking about it IRL. YANBU & you have my sympathy.
