AIBU to think if we're using more reusable shopping bags the food should be cheaper?

It's just that we all dutifully bought the re-usable ones so the supermarkets must have a smaller bill for the free ones. So why is'nt the food cheaper?
If we had'nt ever used reusable bags would the food all be even more expensive now? Or AIBU?

uh... i don't think it quite works like that. the supermarkets still need to make x amount of profit on food they buy. the food they buy still costs the same regardless of whehter shoppers use a bag or not...

Because the price of fuel amongst other things pushed the prices up.

And the bags themselves don't cost much. 2p max.

If a bag of shopping contains say 10 pounds of stuff. You are never going to notice a 2p difference.
