To think there should be an option to 'add details' to your original post??

So you don't have to keep repeating yourself throughout the thread in order to clarifying things

there should be a lot more features to make it more usable tbh

Tortington · 17/09/2011 21:42

nope, the thing about posts is - they are as they are posted - if you post something in haste and make yourslef look like a twat - said twattish post remains and cant be changed.

Bumsnetter · 17/09/2011 21:43

I don't mean so it can be changed, just so you can add details to it, perhaps in a different colour/box or something so people can see the original seperately?

I think an edit function would be very useful.

Even if changes were automatically coloured like PP said, or just with a "post edited at 21:45" type footnote.

Bumsnetter · 17/09/2011 21:46

I hate having to repeat myself again and again in threads, especially when they get long

OP posts:
southeastastra · 17/09/2011 21:48

a quick edit function would be good

if you have to keep on re-clarifying yourself then you are probably posting on aibu and should post on a topic Grin

AgentZigzag · 17/09/2011 21:48

Does anyone know the reason why they don't let posters edit?

Maybe they want us to look like twats?

Make them look better Wink

Bumsnetter · 17/09/2011 21:51

I guess because if you changed the post none of teh subsequent ones would make sense. They should let you add to it though.

OP posts:
squeakytoy · 17/09/2011 21:51

having an edit facility is NEVER a good idea...

usualsuspect · 17/09/2011 21:52

A timed edit facility works well on other forums

Sirzy · 17/09/2011 21:53

Why not squeaky?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/09/2011 21:56

An edit function would interupt the flow of a thread. If someone came onto the thread late the whole thing wouldnt make any sense because they would read through lots of replies to the original OP and would be confused.

TrillianAstra · 17/09/2011 21:58

Nope, because if I have read your thread and replied and you add details I need it to be below my post, not up at the top because I have already read that.
