AIBU?

to think that the thread police hopping around saying ' this should be in.....section' are not really helping the site to seem welcoming!

That's all.

It's jolly annoying.

Please try not to mention my evil nemesis Agentcurlywurly Rhubarb0, it causes me no end of problems with my handler Smile

ConstanceNoring · 15/09/2011 19:25

I do agree with planetpotty however would add that I have seen Trills and Bib being mostly very kind and helpful in their suggestions for thread repositioning.

In terms of being accessible to new posters, any sort of inijoke - Tampons, Shiney, OTW, She who must not be named, that blithering wolef thing - is something which can be a barrier. I think we should avoid that kind of thing where possible - unless we want to give in to our inner clique and I know it's comfy in a clique but it's a big world out there.

That's wot I said innit Maryz

I ain't seen nuffink about no police. Are da threads moved then like wot they does at Netmums? Or does da police just tell me like, that they iz committing a sin like?

Coz if they iz just tellin em like, then forgit it, know wot I mean?

(waits for police to correct speling and gramar)

Northernlurker · 15/09/2011 19:37

This isnt a thread about a thread, it's a thread about thread policing Grin

is AIBU moaning??

TheRhubarb · 15/09/2011 19:48

I think just get rid of AIBU and have chat and the other topics. End of. I win.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 15/09/2011 19:49

There are just so many of these threads around now....

Northernlurker · 15/09/2011 20:02

Well mine's been here since lunchtime Grin If there are a lot of similar threads then I think that sends an awfully clear message tbh.

TrillianAstra · 15/09/2011 20:03

Yes, the message that people don't look around in the different topics enough, or else they would have found your thread instead of making their own :o

Just wish we could go back to using MN as normal instead of every day someone finding something else to complain about relating to the site.

Northernlurker · 15/09/2011 20:07

Mary - I was asking AIBU not 'Why is the mumsnet logo blue - please answer in a month or two' Grin It just happens that you can apply that over-used phrase to so very much.

Is there a "Complaining About the Thread Police" topic this should be in then?

Glitterandglue · 15/09/2011 20:13

I don't know that I've ever seen this but perhaps I've missed it - do MNHQ have the ability to move threads to a more appropriate forum? I see this on a lot of other forums and it does help to make it a bit tidier because it sorts of forces the traffic to the right place, so you don't get people going, "Well I'm going to post here because it's busier," as their thread just gets shifted as soon as someone notices it's in the wrong place anyway.

OracleInaCoracle · 15/09/2011 20:18

I would love mnhq to rename aibu to rants and debates. That would cut down on wrong topics, give aibu a clearer purpose, and therefore stop our moaning. Grin

Northernlurker · 15/09/2011 20:20

Yes they do move threads - in to 'Other Stuff' when completely bemused about where something should go!

OP posts:
Kayano · 15/09/2011 20:21

This should be is Site stuff IMO Grin

I'm NOT going in to Site Stuff ok? You can stuff that thought in a very particular site!
