To get confused when posters label their DC with numbers even though they only have one? Or only one of that sex?

For instance - someone with 1 son and one daughter referring to them as DS1 an DD1.

I end up wondering where DS2 and DD2 feature in the story and then get confused when it becomes clear the poster only has 2 children.

Or someone with only one child (and not pregnant) refers to their DD1.

Am I making any sense? Perhaps not..

I understand what you mean, but I can't say that I've seen anyone do it. Maybe I'm just not observant enough though.

What really does confuse me is when people use acronyms that are just not blindingly obvious such as 'STBX' (Soon To Be Ex) or 'NDN' (Next Door Neighbour)

By the time the OP comes back, half the thread is full of people asking what they're talking about...so why not just type the bloody words to begin with?

I think sometimes it's because a poster has previously lost a child.

YEs it's much more confusing when DD14 is aged 14 and not the 14th DD! :o

I've seen it refer to age too. It does get rather confusing when DD7 turns out not to have 6 siblings
