DSD has a joint residency arrangement with us and her Mum, we swap over on a Monday so DSD is dropped at school by one parent and collected by the other for 'their' week.

DSD was vomiting on Sunday night so we kept her home from school on Monday, she stopped being sick around lunchtime. Her Mum collected her from us at around 4pm yesterday. I got a call from a very pissed off school secretary this morning asking what she was doing in school as there is a 48 hour rule/she still looked really ill. I explained that it wasn't my decision, but if her Mum wasn't able to collect her they should ring me back and I would come and get her. (Mum works and I'm at college).

AIBU to think that given DH explained how ill DSD was to her Mum, she should have kept her home today?

As its school policy then yes she should have done, but quite often, the 48hr rule is hard to gauge.... when my son was sick because he'd been jumping around like a loon I sent him in the next day as I was pretty sure it wasn't a bug, he was sick at school and I was in the sin bin for trying to be an osmo doc.

I would say YANBU but unless you know exactly why her mum took her to school then I cannot say that she was BU either.... not worth falling out over, even if I agree with you.

Yanbu, she should have kept her at home. People sending children in too soon after bugs is one of the reasons they get spread around and is one of my bugbears.
