to think that you have no right to an opinion if you don't read the whole thread?

This is something that REALLY annoys me. A thread can change direction within a couple of posts - the OP gives more information, changes their opinion etc - yet still, posters give their opinion based solely on the OP, taking no notice whatsoever of the rest of the thread.

It comes across as horribly crass sometimes too.

I do appreciate that you don't always have time to read the whole thing, especially if it's pages long - but then, save your opinion until you DO have time, yes? Please?

Yanbu, I completely agree. If you can't be arsed to read most of the thread then don't comment on it. Tis bugbear number 4 in a list of about 200 I have about the way people use Mumsnet .

This is MN - isn't it the law that you have to post before reading the full thread? Then you can go back later and read it, once you've got your initial thoughts out of the way!

i find it a MN site problem actually. the layout of the page and all the posts sometimes makes it really, really difficult to follow, and that's before i get to the post with endless pages. i do sometimes try to pick through the dozens of posts to find the op's response but it's really hard to pick it out sometimes among all the other unrelated random posts.

marcopront - I thought of that too when I saw this thread.
