to think that most people that say 'I left school years ago' in an argument are generally the most bitchy ones anyway!

My friend says this. It really fucks me off. Because out of everyone I know, shes the most bitchy in an argument. Normally she'll have said something nasty, to which the person responds with something nasty, and she'll say 'Im not being funny, but I left school years ago' in order to look higher and mightier and above bitchy comments, despite just making one.

I cant believe my friend gets into enough arguments for me to have noticed a formula to it! Every time Ive heard this phrase its been in a bitchy context. I hate it!

I've never heard that expression, what an odd thing to say! A very childish side of me would want to respond "well of course, dear. We can see that from the crows feet" or something equally unkind if I did hear it.

Your friend sounds strange!

She has never actually said it to me, well except when retelling her daily argument stories, but I might save that one for if she ever does!

As difficult as it is I would just try not to ever say anything horrible in retaliation to her. I have a friend (of a friend really) who, when arguing, will ask a question (with head wiggle and all), pause and when the person goes to reply will snap "let me fucking finish". It's easier just not to try and reply. easier said than done Hmm

My friend and I were chatting about a disagreement between another couple of mutual friends, and agreed that "it was all a bit playground". Don't think we were the bitchy ones there, by any stretch of the imagination!
If I noticed a friend of mine behaving like you say yours is - I probably wouldn't keep socialising with them Smile

But you were in agreement that their argument was something you wouldnt argue about because you left school behind years ago? I just wonder how they might view your any disagreements you'd had and whether they'd come to the same agreement. Not to say that you are childish of course Smile just that Ive found most arguments between friends have an element of 'playground' to them if you arent directly involved yourself.

So its almost an empty statement to me.

Oh I do like her. I just dont like the way each disagreement she has turns into a 'Im more mature than you' slanging match.

I have said it but not in same context. I've now cut off an old school friend because her behaviour was/is reminiscent of our school days. She doesnt like it and is now threatening to come into my place of work and find out why... but that's a whole other thread! Grin

I've not heard it. Probably because we are all so ancient that we left school before some people on here were born! I can only guess she is young. She will stop soon, when it becomes obvious she did. (She will probably want to pretend it wasn't so long ago. Grin)

I've never heard that said, but it sounds to me as if she's behaving like she is in the bloody playground.

I've got all this shit to come again I suppose. Fucking playgrounds - it would appear that things are not much different to when DD1 started school 13 years ago.
