I am a regular poster but posting under a different name, Im going though some problems at the moment, I posted here in the relationships section about the relationship side of it, money saving expert was recommended to me to get help on the financial side of my problems, so I posted there and all I have got back are a load of replies telling me my DH is better off financially without me. Well geez, thanks for that, so no advice for the actual financial question I asked then, just a load of self important wankers telling me that I'm not good enough for DH.
I know its bad form to come onto a forum and bash another forum but I'm so pissed off I needed a rant. Will stick to MN from now on.

I think you should talk to someone who knows what they are talking about before you start calling creditor companies up. The Consumer Credit Counselling Service here will help you put together a plan so that when you do contact them you know what you are going to be able to offer.

There is something called the Limitation Act 1980 which details for how long and in what circumstances debts are enforceable. Basically if you have not had any contact from a company for more than 6 years then it is possible that a debt has become statute barred - but that does not necessarily mean that a company cannot pursue you for the debt it just means that they cannot use the legal system to do it. If you make contact and admit the liability or make a payment then they can then start chasing again.

I have noticed on MSE forums that if you post anything vaguely to do with cocking up money within a relationship, you get classic "Leave the bastard/bitch" or "they should leave you, you bastard/bitch"

I stay away, it just pisses me off when I see people jumped on when they have asked a reasonable question about money, and not about their marriage!

There are some very nasty bastards on MSE. There is a particularly nasty individual who starts threads on the praise and vent boards about disabled people. Really nasty stuff. And dont get me started on Discussion Time. Its the hypocrisy of it that bugs me.Many of the benefit bashers on there conveniently forget that they are claiming Child Benefits and tax credits.
What i think it is with some of them is that they are in loads of debt and they hit the keyboard looking for others to take it out on. They wouldnt do it to someone face to face because the sort of comments some of them make would provoke a violent reaction.

I've had nothing but support from MSE threads but have seen some unpleasant posts on some of the boards but the same can be said of any forum. OP - get some proper, independent advice. If you can't get to a CAB or other Advice Centre call the Money Advice Service.

i used to go on to read about saving money and once posted about something or other (debt company) didnt get a response.

I posted again a few weeks later asking again as had more problems from debt copany - again no response.

Then i posted about a company taking money from our joint account and ask if anyone else had had any problems with this certain comapny and got about 5 replies saying about my past posts and maybe i should handle my money better and maybe i should grow up and get off mummys computer - hmm yeah thanks for that you inconsiderate selfish bastards.

I used to use it but left after too much nastiness. The special occassions board was nice and the others ok to dip in and out of for specific circumstances but generally it's not very nice. And they get really mad if you're a newbie and do something wrong or post in the wrong place in the wrong format Hmm Unclench!

Competition on who can live on 39p a week gets a bit tiresome as well. God help you if you have a pound for the whole week. You will be sent packing.

Can I recommend Sky? The BB and phone is not much different from BT but atleast their helpline gets answered within 24 hours of you ringing them!

Yes ,slagging off Talk Talk is all that MSE is good for. I would NEVER post threads about personal circumstances on MSE like i have on here. Too many nasty fuckers on MSE. Their days might be numbered though. Just seen on the news that a man has been given 18 months inside for nasty trolling.Bet there is not a thread about it on MSE Discussion Time. Cant wait till these new laws catch up with them. Cant come quickly enough.
