to think that £1000 for 4 nights 3 days to Disneyland Paris will be enough

for myself and my 3 dc ages 11,4 and 20m? We're going with my sil (no kids) by coach and ferry she is taking approx £400 for hrself. This would have to cover food/ drink and any overpriced shite the kids want

I'm planning to take snacks and juice with us and since it's B&B (buffet style) we will try to take a picnic for dinner and if we eat out it'll be the cheaper options like Mcdonalds. Any advice/tips welcome.

I'm sure there'll be a holiday forum somewhere on MN but I can't seem to find any other forums apart from the ones in "Shortcuts, Popular forums". I'm off to have a nosey about MN as I've never been anywhere other than AIBU in the few short weeks I've been a member.

Go to travel > shorthaul or include them as the thread areas in z search. We went almost 2 years ago and meals were included so can't really help much but there are loads of threads advising about food and budgets which I found really helpful. Have a great time!

Budget is doable - it depends on how much you buy - set a budget for the kids or let them pick something on the last day.

We stayed in Cheyenne Hotel which had a cowboy theme. We ate out for lunch and dinner most days. The hotel was very accommodating for gluten free diets - you had to ask though.

There are plenty of places to eat in the park and we went for pizza, pasta or salads as it suited our large group. On the last day we joined everyone else and made cheese and ham rolls from the breakfast buffet. The shops at the hotel aren't very well equipped.

We went half board last time but will just have b&b. McDonald's is not in the main park - it is the village outside. Not sure I could be bothered to walk there and back . It seemed like most people went here when the parks closed and so expect queues.

We found some of the more child friendly restaurants more expensive than the mainstream (Steakhouse). For lunches we preferred Walt Disney Studios rather than the main park.

BBQ cookout and Pizza Planet were both closed when we went and so I woudl try there.

We loved it. Going to Paris this year and Florida next.

We bought meal vouchers before we went and took a bag of snacks and cartons of juice. 4 of us... 2 adults and 2 kids, 6 days. We spent about £100 total. I couldnt believe it. We had thought £100 per day... We told the kids they could have £25 to spend in the shop before we left. Didnt take them into shops til about day 4 for a look around, then they bought their chosen thing on day 5 or 6.

Apart from cost, we found the food in the park pretty dire!! If you get the chance to stop at a hypermarche on route I would stock up on some basics to smuggle in with you!

I took 500 euros & came back with 300!! They bought toys & gifts for their friends, I took water bottles & squash & they filled up from the water fountains when the juice was gone,, I also took crisps & crereal bars for lunch snacks That was for 4 of us me 12, 10 & 4 yrs. Must admit tea was mostly Mcdonalds!!

we went to DLP this may, DH me and 4 year old DD's we stayed in hotel santa fe and up graded to half board plus, cost an extra 250 pounds for us all but meant that our evening meal was included and we had a good selection of places to eat, i also liberated lads of stuff at breakfast to make up a packed lunch and took snacks with us as even fast food places there are mega bucks, just make sure you remember to take a box and bag!!

i got loads of really good ideas from trip advisor so would recommend you have a look on there.

the only extra we paid for was the disney character breakfast which the girls loved although you don't need to do this, you can book to eat in cafe mickey in the evening and all the characters are there from 6pm onwards, think we booked for half 5 so the kids had eaten something before he characters turned up

ours totally loved it and the whole journey home we were bombarded with when can we go again,

to answer your original question, the first time we went we took 700 pounds and blew the lot last time we went we took 300 and still managed a few treats,

There are some good dlp threads on here - I got some good advice on one earlier in the summer when we went. Sorry not at pc so can't post link but try searching on MN for travel threads with posts by a mnetter called figgygirl (I think) - she also moderates the trip advisor boards on dlp and has a wealth of knowledge that she has shared.

We weren't that impressed by the food at dlp to be honest and we didn't eat in the hotel as it would have been 90euros plus drinks for 4 of us for a buffet thing and wasn't that impressed by the breakfasts to even consider risking it.

We ate Macdonalds for our lunches - happy meals had an extra bag of fruit in compared to here which the dc didn't tend to eat after their lunch as too full but was nice mid afternoon to have packets of melon to eat.

In the evenings we had a car so one night drove to the local massive shopping centre and had a very nice pizza meal that was less than 40 euros for everything (2 adults, 2 boys 6&3). There were all sorts of restaurants there mostly in one section together. There was also a big hypermarket that we bought some stuff from and we'd taken drinks etc from home to take in with us.

If you wanted to spend less there was one place that looked good that was close to the hypermarket rather than being in the food court. It was mostly takeaway with a few seats but basically a fast food fresh pasta bar. They had big trays of fresh pasta - uncooked- lined up that you chose the pasta you wanted and size of portion (s/m/l) and theyd scoop up the pasta and cook it in their vat of boiling water (think of things they use to cook chips at chippy but with Esther and individual portions of pasta in it). Then the had lots of different sauces from bolognaise to pesto to salmon to carbonara and a whole load more so you chose your sauce and whole lot was dished up in a carton like those you see on amertican movies when they get Chinese takeout! All looked very clean and nice, would go back there if we went again and had more time there. And if the supermarket is a carrefour and does hot pizza then that is very nice and cheap too.

There's a free (I think) shuttle bus that goes from the main shuttle bus drop off point in front of the tgv station at dlp to the shopping centre, sorry not sure what the frequency was like or there were taxis that did a fixed price run.

Very doable, we did 4 nights 5 days on £350 excluding spends for kids. We did eat at budget restaurants though and nabbed rolls etc for lunch from the breakfast buffet.

My mum and I took my DD and DS for 3 nights /4 days this August, with an atrocious exchange rate (£1 = 1 Euro). We bought half board vouchers for £240 (for evening meal or lunch but at really nice restaurants - the fast food at DLP is rubbish) and other than, we had £100 each over the entire trip (mostly spent on Eurostar coffee, drinks and ice cream and two presents each for my DD and DS).

To be honest, as the park is full to bursting with Disney shops, most people seem to go crazy buying toys and souvenirs and that seems to be where most money goes. If you avoid that (easier with v young kids, I think) you don't necessarily need to spend too much money. Oh, and I second the ham/cheese rolls scavenged from the breakfast buffets!

We're going in November to the Sequoia lodge. I can't wait - just wish it was going to be warm but hopefully it won't be as busy. We also thought about a character meal as it's dd's 4th birthday the week after.
