cheers Zigzag Grin
Genuine, serious question then Zigzag, to what degree do you think the US govt have manipulated 'us' about 9/11? Do you really believe they orchestrated some of it/ turned a blind eye/ tried to cover up their ineptitude?

Frommfollower · 09/09/2011 23:46

What about on BBC news tonight that had a big piece on George Bush's face when he was in the school being told about 9/11. All the conspiracy theorists have always thought it strange he didn't show much of a reaction at being told for the first time about 9/11. Now, 10yrs later, we're getting the lowdown on the BBC, wtf? Do I care? George Bush and Tony Blair (middle east peace envoy? what a contradiction) are pure evil.

Why are we being told this now? For a start, this is UK, we're not another state of america. Theres people dying now in east Africa, why don't we get more news on that, wonder which country is raising the food prices beyond the reach of people there.

Remember 1 million people marched against the war in Iraq and were ignored, probably far more than 1 million innocent iraqi's have been killed in the west's pursuit of its oil. I don't know about conspiracy theories but people need to start opening their eyes in this country.

And why are kids in London getting a history lesson on 9/11, guessing theres no conspiracy theories in that curriculum.

AgentZigzag · 10/09/2011 00:05

I think it'd be easy for a 'government' (if such a thing were tangible) with the resources (financial and intelectual) America has available to keep some things to themselves Fuzzy.

I've not seen or heard anything that'd lead me to think they're specifically covering anything up in this case, but brushing off everything that doesn't fit with the official line as 'crackpot conspiracies' would be ignoring the realities of global politics and diplomacy.

People do have shady careers in government agencies (and I'm glad they're there) and governments have to take what we would consider to be unethical decisions.

It's a shit world, and you've got to be a bit shitty to survive.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2011 00:05

Do you have a point you want to make Fromm, because it really isn't obvious to me from reading your post. Or was it just a general ramble you wanted to get off your chest?

(this is the polite thread yes?)

Sookeh · 10/09/2011 00:08

I'm a bit Confused as well Fromm.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2011 00:12

govternments aren't any different to any other organistation made up of individuals. Secrets can be kept but IME only when theres something atanglible in it for the person keeping the secret (particularly when it involved killing people). The more people involved the more difficult it is to keep every one quiet for ever.

I don't dismiss conspiracy theories on anything out of hand and I'm pretty sure I've listened and read every possible one on 9/11 and haven't yet heard one which is vaguely credible. Nor have I yet heard a credible "why" attached to a credible "who" which work together in the same breath as a mechanism which comes even to the foothills of working.

Fuzzywood · 10/09/2011 00:14

Fair point Zigzag, you need more booze Zig Grin
Fromm, not sure I get your point. Why shouldn't children in London be taught about 9/11? What should the curriculum include? Do you really think that suggesting to impressionable youngsters that the illuminati ( whoever the hell they are) conspired to create the whole thing is a good idea? Hmm

Kewcumber · 10/09/2011 00:14

Sookeh - I think its the equivalent of my old Nan saying "how can you leave that lovely lunch when there's children starving in Africa" - how dare we discuss 9/11 TV programmes when the media isn't reporting bigger world events (or not enough for Fromm's liking).

Of course I'm speculating Confused

MadameDefarge · 10/09/2011 00:15

Just a thought, do you think the CIA monitor MN as well?

Kewcumber · 10/09/2011 00:20

I would imagine tis their best source of intelligence.

I once went for a job with a top secret private "vetting agency" which was staffed almost enitely with ex CIA and M!5 and Met police officers. Down to a shortlist of 2 and was told by the headhunter - "if you have any skeletons in your closet please tell us now as they will find them" and I never heard from them again, not even a no thanks which is highly unusual when down to a shortlist of 2.

I often wonder if they got me confused with someon else of the same name and declined me on the basis of me being a Russian spy Confused

Or maybe they were just bloody rude.

MadameDefarge · 10/09/2011 00:21

Or they just tracked you down on MN?

Far to leaky!

But Wine for getting down to 2!

AgentZigzag · 10/09/2011 00:24

I'm wiping tears of mirth away at your suggestion of coherence Fuzzy Grin

Fromm could be talking about this vid?

I agree with what Fromm is saying about who chooses what gets onto (and what's left off) the news agenda, it's definately a very specific manipulation of power by the powerful.

And if they're teaching what happened to children, it's becoming a concrete version of history.

WhereYouLeftIt · 10/09/2011 00:24

Here's a quick clip (4 minutes) from a recent Radio 4 program I heard, an interview with someone who's written a book about conspiracy theorists. He makes some interesting comments about why he thinks men become conspiracists, why it's mostly men, etc.

Fuzzywood · 10/09/2011 00:25

Damn it they're on to me

Actually I really must go to bed, 7 month old DS doesn't do lie ins!

AgentZigzag · 10/09/2011 00:28

And are you a Russian spy Kew?

TheBride · 10/09/2011 00:33

If it was an inside job it's be on Wikileaks by now..............or maybe that's just want they want you to think. Maybe Julian is a CIA stooge.......or maybe actually, Julian isn't really a stooge, they just think he's one, but just when he's about to give the game away, he's going to turn bad again like Tony in 24.

creamola · 10/09/2011 00:33

does it mention why the bbc announced the collapse of building 7 prior to it actually falling ?

Sookeh · 10/09/2011 00:34

I still weep about Tony's betrayal.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2011 00:36

I couldn't possibly comment, ZigZag

But "stratsvoyte" to you Comrad

Kewcumber · 10/09/2011 00:36

I still weep about Tony 's betrayal. generally

Sookeh · 10/09/2011 00:39

Creamola, the collapse of WTC7 had been expected for hours, radio chatter from firecrews led the BBC to falsely report the building had already collapsed as opposed to being in danger of collapse.

There were a lot of errors in news reporting that day but the conspiracy theorists single one specific one out to suit their own agendas.

AgentZigzag · 10/09/2011 00:44
creamola · 10/09/2011 00:46

thanks sookeh.

do you know why wtc7 was expected to collapse when it hadn't been hit by anything ?

This has always puzzled me

TheBride · 10/09/2011 00:55

Because it got hit by falling debris from the twin towers, caught on fire and sustained a massive hole to one side (conspiracy theorists deny this on the basis that they can't find a photo of the damage, but at the same time, they can't find a photo of the lack of damage).

Sookeh · 10/09/2011 00:56

It was hit by a huge amount of debris as well as many of the perimeter columns from (I think) the North tower which led to unfought fires that raged for hours weakening inner columns leading to pancaking and collapse.
