I lurk a bit at work ( prenteding to be busy, saves me making the tea ) and have started the odd thread here and there seeking advice, BuT my god I feel sorry for the posters who are on here day in day out for hours.
I know some people are socially isolated and I'm sure they get a lot from mumsnet, but it is rather sad when it becomes your main source of adult interaction, and by choice for many I imagin. I know mumsnet has one million members, but it's always the same names coming up in active conversations. These forums should be a place where you drop into now and then, not somewhere you rely on for friendship.

AIBU ?

I repeat

PLEASE STOP TRYING TO JUSTIFY WHY AND WHEN YOU GO ON MUMSNET.
Sorry about that, but everyone is coming and saying that they're doing this and doing that and only come on MN when dah dah dah da.
There is no need to feel guilty about it, you should be free to go on whenever you want, it's fun
OP on the other hand does not sound fun.
At all.

GinSlinger · 09/09/2011 14:05

I thought the OP was sorry for people who ONLY spent half their lives here.

Peachy · 09/09/2011 14:06

I don't know who I am better read than, but I start back producing my MA research dissertation tomorrow so am hardly without reading material.

Indeed I am MNing at this moment precisely in order to avoid said reading material .

Whihc is a putrpose and one I am extremly happy with Grin

(Oh and because Dh is off building the carnival float and I can't get down to it because off school, so need to wait until it's ready for me to go boogie on. Which is damn good fun).

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 09/09/2011 14:08

How's Velvet Whip, Velvet?

RalphGnu · 09/09/2011 14:10

Another fucking judgey thread. Great.

SuePurblybilt · 09/09/2011 14:13

I think MNHQ have seen us whinging about the dullness of the board atm and are sending in stirrers. Hence random threads about weeing, and drama threads and this type of bonding-against-a-common-enemy thread being all over the fecking shop.

Yoohoo, MNHQ? You can stop now. We've cheered up. Please pop the haters back in the strong room until next time.

Cheaptrick · 09/09/2011 14:18

I'm hurt by your statement.

What do you expect me to lookafter my 2yo with no adult interaction and remain sane Shock

Cheaptrick · 09/09/2011 14:20

just reading the sware words makes me feel like an adult and happy again then i can toddle off back to 2yo land in the knowledge there are other adults there if i need to rant!

naturalbaby · 09/09/2011 14:26

this is a fab nosey post to see what other MNters are up to all day.
i am sitting alone, in silence in a dark room.

giyadas · 09/09/2011 14:26

ginslinger - actually I have 4 spare ducks, but have reason to suspect your motives for wanting one.

tethersend · 09/09/2011 14:27

"yeah, let's all walk into a bar for example and tell everyone they are sad cunts and walk back out again....."

Not before you've bought them all a round of drinks and downed a couple of Jaegermeisters Wink

OP

I joined when I broke my leg, it stopped me from getting depressed. Now I'm in pain with gynae problems and waiting for a diagnostic op, so its a good distraction. I have lots of RL friends but I get fed up with all the sympathy and just want to distract myself from worrying about it.

I'm sure there's lots of people on here for all sorts of reasons. We don't need your sympathy, which came across more as sneering superiority.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 09/09/2011 14:35

You know, I really couldn't give a duck.

Oh, and Only for professional offenders though

DizzyKipper · 09/09/2011 14:38

Are you really sorry for them or are you just trying to put people down for doing something you don't think much of? Hmm

DizzyKipper · 09/09/2011 14:39

naturalbaby I am sitting down eating my lunch after having just finished my day at work. I'm relaxing a little before I have to take the dog out, do some housework, pick the OH up and then get ready for going out.

LadyOfTheManor · 09/09/2011 14:39

If you're never on here how do you know what names crop up "all the time" in the active list?

Psammead · 09/09/2011 14:42

Wait, what? Mumsnet is not a book?

But I've only just figured out who the murderer is!

You know who you are.

Seriously though, is popularity such a big deal to some people? I seem to attract people who want to drink coffee/have lunch/comsume alcohol/take classes/go to the park etc with me All The Time. I bloody wish they'd let me get on with becoming a hermit, because frankly with few exceptions they are tiresome. MNers are much more interesting.

Proud to announce we had our little purple velvety walnut whip yesterday.

3rd degree tear, my earlobes are agony Grin

Thumbwitch · 09/09/2011 14:47

LeQ - can I just say it is nice to see you back again. As one of those for whom the OP apparently sneers at feels sorry for, I have missed you. :)

Honeydragon · 09/09/2011 14:48

same as Pssmead & LeQueen

Thumbwitch · 09/09/2011 14:49

Congratulations Velvet! (why do your earlobes hurt?)

Honeydragon · 09/09/2011 14:56

thumb.....ear shagging. Apparently a quick gestation too.....
