here

I was considering buying some "sexy" and by sexy I mean not granny panties from George at Asda, so would like to find somethign in my size. I have looked at several "plus sized" web sites and none of them show anyone who looks remotely plus sized to me. They just have huge boobs which means they look nothing like me and I have no idea if I would look disgusting or not in any of the clothes.

I just want to see a fat girl who looks like me wearing the clothes!

I'd kill for that figure.

ChocolateIsAFoodGroup · 08/09/2011 23:10

I would probably qualify as plus-sized.... I am 5 foot 3, 125 pounds, and a UK size 8, US size 6 Sad Bolllocks to the bloody modelling industry, I say... I think I look nice and curvey and I like myself that way.... as did all the artists who used to paint me... I was an artist's model for a good 6 years and they used to rave about my curves and my skin and say painting stick-thin women was 'boring'.

Not to be mean to stick-thin women, obviously, why, some of my best friends are stick thin women! Wink

EllieG · 08/09/2011 23:11

You aren't lus sized if you are a size 8, that's teeny

Crosshair · 08/09/2011 23:14

Whats the average size in the uk nowadays?

nickschick · 08/09/2011 23:15

What are you doing looking at open crotch pants?? its nearly Autumn and can get very chilly.

ChocolateIsAFoodGroup · 08/09/2011 23:16

You are in the modeling industry, Ellie.... also according to my mum Grin....

I basically just meant to support the OP that the modelling industry is insane. Also, the woman in that ad is gorgeous - who cares what actual size she is? Bet DH would agree with me - I'm going to have to get him to chime in with me here Wink

FabbyChic · 08/09/2011 23:17

Im a size 12/14 and she looks 2 stone lighter than me, I'd say she was a 10, you can see her ribs, can't remember the last time I saw mine and I'm a size 12.

Shes very broad on top though. Big shoulders and boobs.

pigletmania · 08/09/2011 23:22

I don't think they mean the model just the clothes that she is modeling are for plus size people. They do get skinny models to model plus size clothes sometimes Hmm

Cereal · 08/09/2011 23:24

She'll be airbrushed, won't she? The waistline looks a bit unreal.

bucaneve · 08/09/2011 23:24

Oh don't be daft (meant in a nice way!) ChocolateIsAFoodGroup you are pretty much the exact same height, weight, and clothes size as me and I think I'm pretty thin Grin

I think the model is about a 14 because of the big boobs. She has a lovely figure but I think plus-size models (all models actually) need to be 'hippier' (as opossed to so chesty) as the ave British woman is meant to fairly pear shaped.

bucaneve · 08/09/2011 23:25

*meant to be fairly pear shaped

FabbyChic · 08/09/2011 23:27

Im a 16 top because of my chest. I wear size 12 trousers and she looks a ten on the bottom half to me.

She doesn't have big upper arms. However, she could be tall which would account for it.

I look twice as heavy as her. Ive a pregnant tummy! and Im not pregnant!

I call myself four rolls!

She's a similar size to me but has bigger boobs and I'm a 14, would describe myself as average sized, although above average compared to many of my skinny running friends.

SouthernFriedTofu · 08/09/2011 23:30

nickschick Blush swear I didn't notice they were crotchless!

SouthernFriedTofu · 08/09/2011 23:31

TheSecondComing they would sell though (might anyway) where as right now they definitly won't sell because I haven't a real clue what they would like on IFSWIM I wouldn't risk buying pants because you can't return them.

ChocolateIsAFoodGroup · 08/09/2011 23:42

bucaneve well, I think I look alright - not skinny but quite nice (DH certainly thinks so....)

DS thinks my tummy is squishy though.... I'd like to think it's cos I've had 2 DC, but maybe was, ahem, not all that toned prior to them....

Crosshair · 08/09/2011 23:45

Yeah they do look odd januaryjojo, I think it may be due to lack of lines/ bum creases. Its all very flat. Confused

Cereal · 08/09/2011 23:51

I think it's the airbrushing that has put highlights/shiny skin in the wrong place. Looks like someone's just got the airbrush thing to lighten the colours a bit, and painted on a few stripes.

"Is it me?? Or do her legs in the second picture, the rear view confused look odd???"

Empjusa · 08/09/2011 23:56

One of her arms, her waist on one side, one of her hips and (in the rear view) her elbow (wtf?) have all been altered.
