Oh FFS what a fuss about nothing. It's because some people are so witlessly precious about germs that people get ill - what do you think you've got an immune system for?
Also, you were being a self-righteous bully when you marched a 9-year-old out of your party as though she had the plague, poor kid would have been humiliated and scared.

fanjobiscuit · 04/09/2011 21:03

YABU.

You have no idea why the little girl had the runs. Yes , possibly it was a bug but you don't know that. Could have been something her Nan gave her that disagreed with her.

Agreed that she should have washed her hands but -you know-she's 9 and hand washing is not the most important thing to her right now.

Presumable your own family are drilled by you in hand washing which should mitigate matters somewhat.

Have a Wine and relax

Talker2010 · 04/09/2011 21:04

MadamDeathstare as you say "not being able to", "not being allowed to"

What you have here is a girl with an upset tummy (not enough to make her feel ill ... just to go to the loo often) who is asked to a party ... no adult saying "no you are ill" and you expect her to understand that her runs might cause wide-spread stomach upsets

FredBare · 04/09/2011 21:05

do you know i cant remember ever having one moment worrying about germs when my kids were growing up, it just wouldnt have crossed my mind

and they were rarely ill as well

you are being daft op

carpwidow · 04/09/2011 21:11

Having the "runs" could mean anything to a 9 year old. She may have just been wanting to wee more than usual if she was drinking a lot at a BBQ or could have had an attack of the farts. Poor kid YABU

Vicbic · 04/09/2011 21:12

OP to be furious is daft. It wouldn't occur to most 9 year olds that they can give bugs to people like that - they tend to think of germs being from sneezed and coughs etc.
MadamDeathStare - how ridiculous.

Georgimama · 04/09/2011 21:13

What sgb said. Poor child.

naughtaless · 04/09/2011 21:15

She is 9, cut her some slack.
