...to think it's being a bit cheeky parking in a parent and child space when you don't use a car seat?

Now I know it says "parent and child" so any child is technically included, but I thought the point is to give you extra room to manoeuvre a push chair/trolly and/or open your door fully to get a kid into a car seat. I only have a two door car and need a ton of room to open it all the way to get my boy into the back seat.

Today at the grocery store I saw a dad with his 10 year old or so son getting into their car in the parent and child zone. The kid got into the front seat on his own. Frankly I think this guy was taking the mick, especially because they were giving me the eye until I actually pulled a child out of the back.

Opinions please!

Curlyboy look on the bright side you've done some real good, you've read the other threads and provided a thread for everyone to play Sunday night silly silly buggers.

This makes you more endearing not less Smile

In short Mnet feels that P&C spaces should be banned therefore society would be less irritated as a whole.

Claw3 no apologies please, just pointing out the great minds wotnot Grin

ChaoticAngeloftheUnderworld · 04/09/2011 20:00

Arsey we could rent them out and make a fortune Grin

TalesOfTheUnexpected · 04/09/2011 20:01

Curlyboy don't take it personally.

On a different note, I was a tiny bit offended when my Anti-virus software announced 10 minutes ago that my computer had been protected from a "malicious attack" from Mumsnet!

Viruses via Mumsnet!!!!........I've got enough natural viruses to cope with in real life thank you. (Search my history, you'll get the joke).

Claw3 · 04/09/2011 20:01

chaotic it says 'parent and child' there was no mention of a car, go for it!

Rockstock Oh i see, great minds it is then Grin does your brother use a car seat?

ivykaty44 · 04/09/2011 20:02

I lock my bike at the right beside the front door, have even seen one man with his bike inside the store with his child seat on the back of the bike - get a bike as it saves all the hassle of parking a flipping car - they are such a nuisance to take shopping with you Wink

Tiredmumno1 · 04/09/2011 20:04

Thanks chaotic that was yummy Grin

CurlyBoy · 04/09/2011 20:06

Don't worry Tales, I've read Mumsnet long enough not to take anything on here personally!

For what it's worth I really only use the P&C spaces to save everyones doors from me putting dents in them!

Glad to know that I'm not the only one that says "don't open the doors yet" and does indeed park in P&C and disabled spaces whenever I can.

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 04/09/2011 20:33

Claw3 DSiL is likely to tie him in one if he's pissed Grin

Claw3 · 04/09/2011 20:38

haha Grin Rockstock now pissed, tied to a car seat and parked in a P&C is a whole other thread!

Bogeyface · 04/09/2011 20:38

OP. YANBU, and no I dont care that this has been done to death. Selfish fuckers piss me off, and I speak as someone who has used P&C AND disabled spaces (with a legitimate blue badge) over the years and seens people take the piss.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 04/09/2011 20:54

Damn. Am I too late for Wine? And popcorn? Boooo!

PeachyPossum · 04/09/2011 20:55

I always thought they allowed more space for kids to swing open the doors and not damage your car that's next to it. I thought this was a bloody good idea. Grin

PeachyPossum · 04/09/2011 20:57

Tesco ask for under 5 I think and Sainsbob is under 12. Guess them there would be the rules to follow. Wink

ilikethesun · 04/09/2011 20:58

How do you search someones history?

Loonytoonie · 04/09/2011 20:59

I have a fresh jar of nutella...... and 2 spoons (ladle's). Can I join?

banana87 · 04/09/2011 21:02

I don't know. But at 7 months pregnant with SPD I park in Parent and Child regardless of whether DD is with me or not...have fun ripping me apart for that one :)

BTW, YABU.

naughtaless · 04/09/2011 21:04

Oh curly, is it really worth it.

RosieBP · 04/09/2011 21:04

Our local Sainsburys states that if you park in a p and c when you are not entitled you are fined £50. How on earth do they enforce that?

DH now downstairs making me an icecream milkshake - any takers?!

Jodianna · 04/09/2011 21:11

Got the last bit of Choccy birthday cake here.

By the way, I use them to sunbathe in. Just chuck a towel on and it's mine!

PeachyPossum · 04/09/2011 21:41

Rosie, our local one used to stick very very sticky stickers om the windscreen that where near impossible to remove. Now they have proper car park attendants who will and do issue fines as per the signs.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 04/09/2011 21:45

YANBU

Someone was loudly saying to another adult they were shopping with that they have to wait for p+c spaces as the 'lil shits' (delightful non) run off the minute the car stops so its safer, on returning to our car she's parked next to us putting four kids in the back seat two which were infant carrier age, without carseats just some cushions to prop the babies up. Safety my arse.

Make all spaces wider or stick p+c right at the back, there locations not important its the space I require, or park on an 'end' and retrieve dcs from one side!
