...to think it's being a bit cheeky parking in a parent and child space when you don't use a car seat?

Now I know it says "parent and child" so any child is technically included, but I thought the point is to give you extra room to manoeuvre a push chair/trolly and/or open your door fully to get a kid into a car seat. I only have a two door car and need a ton of room to open it all the way to get my boy into the back seat.

Today at the grocery store I saw a dad with his 10 year old or so son getting into their car in the parent and child zone. The kid got into the front seat on his own. Frankly I think this guy was taking the mick, especially because they were giving me the eye until I actually pulled a child out of the back.

Opinions please!

It never occurred to me that they have these in America.

Honeydragon · 04/09/2011 19:09

Look the seems nice, misguided about Mumsnet, but nice. Let's try and keep her here.

Incidentally for the best cats bum mouth ever, park a cargo bike in one when all the motorcycle spaces are full. I had dd with me, I was parking. I was not, however, popular Grin

Honeydragon · 04/09/2011 19:10

Look the op seems

BimboNo5 · 04/09/2011 19:10

I personally found it EASIER with a two door to get the baby in and out...

Anyway why do people NEED to take the carseat out? Kids should not be left in them for any longer than necessary, it isnt good for their development.

PattySimcox · 04/09/2011 19:11

Scones and neopolitans on offer you say?

Honeydragon · 04/09/2011 19:12

I don't bother with P&C spaces. The disabled parking is always closer to the doors.

TheHumanCatapult · 04/09/2011 19:14

stern look waits for war on disabled spaces and stop eating all the scones Im hungry now

foreverondiet · 04/09/2011 19:14

At my local tesco it says parents and under 5s. I only use if I have DS2 (16 months) with the older 2 (5 and 7) no need they can get into car on their own and strap themselves in.

Speak to the shop about it if you aren't happy with the policy.

FoundWanting · 04/09/2011 19:20

Humpf fnerff chmp pnumff

Sorry, Catapult I seem to have spat scone crumbs in your hair.

Claw3 · 04/09/2011 19:24

Technically, parent and child could be 70 year old mother, with 40 year old child!

ChaoticAngeloftheUnderworld · 04/09/2011 19:27

OP for you... Biscuit

Bellavita · 04/09/2011 19:29

Claw3 as I referred to my brother's feelings on P&C upthread Grin

LordOfTheFlies · 04/09/2011 19:35

When my DCs were 2 and 4.5 I was after the last P&C space in Tesco. It was nabbed by a woman with a child of about 10 Shock.

I had to park in a regular space. On the way back- with DD in full trolley and DS tagging along, I dropped my keys in a drain.
Luckily it was so full of mud and filth but no water, my keys were okay , but I had to get a member of staff with a grabby thing to rescue them.

And it was all this fecking womans fault for immorally swiping a P&C space Hmm, not mine (obviously) for being a clumsy caah.

Kladdkaka · 04/09/2011 19:38

As the spaces are a perk aimed at bringing in more money, I think they should be allocated according to how much money you spent on you last visit. Receipts should be displayed on the dashboard. If someone arrives who spent more and there are no spaces, the lowest spender has to go out and move their vehicle. Simples.

CurlyBoy · 04/09/2011 19:45

First of all DuelingFanjo, I live in the UK.

Secondly, I don't get the silly comments. Have I missed something? Has this been done to death?

BimboNo5 - I agree, it IS easier in a two door, but I need more space to open it.

FredBare · 04/09/2011 19:45

if its raining, its positively rude not to use the P&C spaces, there are so many of them anyway, who cares

[gay abandon]

CurlyBoy · 04/09/2011 19:48

Thanks Honeydragon! I see it has been done to death!

Being a man I have a short attention span and have obviously missed the previous threads!

Claw3 · 04/09/2011 19:50

Rockstock Oh sorry i didnt read all the comments Grin

I think the spaces should go to those who have spent a fortune on virtual scones and popcorn.

ShellyBoobs · 04/09/2011 19:51

The P&C spaces at our nearest supermarket have been renamed.

They're now 'Parent & Soluble PFB' spaces.

I have wine. I hope this thread doesn't fizzle out too soon.

ChaoticAngeloftheUnderworld · 04/09/2011 19:54

Claw3 "I think the spaces should go to those who have spent a fortune on virtual scones and popcorn."

Does that mean I can have one even though I don't drive?

ArseyContarsie · 04/09/2011 19:56
Grin
