...to think taking a cup of tea to the Post Office is a good idea?

I have to take back a parcel. I've left it late because I've been busy, it's Saturday afternoon and it'll be rammed because it closes in an hour.

It's only a short walk to the post office, about five minutes, so I thought I might as well take a cup of tea and the papers to pass the time. If I'm careful to leave a good inch in the top of the cup for safety I think this is reasonable no?

I think you might get some very funny looks. Grin

You could go the whole hog and take your own chair as well!

Can't carry a chair, tea, papers and parcel. Otherwise I would!

can't you take it in a flask?

i think it's a great idea!

bigbadbarry · 03/09/2011 16:28

Sounds extremely sensible to me - perhaps in a flask though for H&S :)

LynetteScavo · 03/09/2011 16:29

Don't you own one of these?

The perfect thing for popping to the PO with a cup of tea.

carpwidow · 03/09/2011 16:29

Well just collect the parcel and then label up the chair, teapot and papers and have the Post Office forward them on to you next week! Just think, if you're not in when they try to deliver next week, this could go on for weeks!

I think it's a great idea. No one would bat an eyelid if you went in carrying a Starbucks cup would they? What's the difference?

ChippingIn · 03/09/2011 16:32

You could try being grateful the post office is open on a Saturday afternoon - ours isn't.

They'll probably just think you are barking.

bridesofshore - I always pick up a take away latte if I have to go to the laundrette - but I do like your idea!

DDs and I have thermal sippy cups for the school run etc. They are a godsend and I am permanently welded to mine now. 'Never knowingly without coffee' is my motto.

LovelyCuppa · 03/09/2011 18:53

Well I went in with a flask as a compromise. And the sneaky bastards were being efficient! There was no queue and four cashiers to choose from.

I'm glad I decided against taking a bag of spuds to peel for tea ;)
