AIBU to get really irrated at people who text or e-mail me asking me to ring them????

I mean, if they want to speak to me why not ring me? This happens to me regularly, isn't it rude to do this to someone?

I get texts from quite a few friends asking me to ring them and i get e mails from companies asking me to ring them.

What would you do? And AIBU to be annoyed by this

Yes, I get annoyed by this, too! If it's not my children or my sister, then I text back "You call me!"

Of course you're right to be annoyed. They are wanting you to pay for a call that they want to make - how can that be reasonable?

Just ignore them?

Are they just trying to get out of paying for the call? Or are there reasons why your friends can't call you?

Tbh I would far rather have a text from someone- I can then call them back at a time convenient to me, rather than them disturbing me with the phone ringing at an inconvenient time.

I think they just want me to pay for the call.

My sister is the absolute worst - she only rings me 2 or 3 times a year and she only rings when she's got 2 minutes credit on her phone. And the first thing she tells me is she's only got 2 minutes credit on her phone. Fucking annoy me the lot of em.

If people are going to leave a message they should at least say what it's about, and when they're going to try again.

Yup, they want you to pay for the call. I had a friend who would constantly text 'phone me'.

She outdid herself one night. She came onto facebook chat and asked me to call her because she needed to ask me a favour! We were already CHATTING!!

I think it depends - DS1 has unlimited texts on his phone but calls are expensive so I have told him to text me and I'll ring him back. DBF knows that with the DCs it's not always convenient to talk so she'll text me and I call her when they are in bed or I have 10 30 minutes to talk. DM on the otherhand never has must credit and knows I get free calls so often texts and I call her back.

Anyone else who I don't have a kind of prior arrangement with then i don't think you ABU as it would make me cross too!

YANBU, however I always text DH and ask him to ring me back as I always seemed to call him when he was with a client/driving/on the loo...

I always think it's their way of telling me they want to speak to me but they're not sure if I'm in a position to speak. My mother does this when I'm at work.

My Mum does this. She still doesn't get the notion of inclusive minutes. Its actually probably costing her more in texts asking people to call her than if she actually phoned herself. Although in her defence, I think part of it is she knows I'm always mentile busy and thinks its more polite to ask me to call when its convenient for me rather than disturb me with an ill-timed call.

At least it means you can call them at a time that's convenient to you.

I always ask people to call me! I get free minutes so it's not that, just I guess it means they can chat properly at a time thats convenient to them instead of me calling at a busy moment, I totally never thought it would presumed I was too cheap to pay for a call, mortified.....

i and most people i know have contracts with inclusive minutes so i don't mind a text - i assume it means i can call them at my convenience whereas answer a call isn't always convenient.
