to be considering past life regression?

I love messing about in boats off UK coasts or the eastern seaboard of the US and in the Med.

HOWEVER, merely the names 'South China Sea' and 'Cape Horn' fill me with dread, as does the thought of the extremely deep waters of the southern Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

I'm not likely to venture into these regions in any kind of sea-going vessel but, nevertheless, I'm wondering why I have this seemingly irrational fear of the deep in those particular parts of the world.

Would it be unreasonable to explore whether past life regression can shed any light on my fears? Have you had any experience of recalling past lives and, if so, has it helped you in your present life? Is it something that you would like to do (someday, sometime, when you get round to it) or are you disbelieving of the concept of reincarnation?

Seeker - that's not me in the link but I'm the one who posted that I'm a psychotherapist and I also do hypno and regression.

I don't charge extra and I don't do it separately but I wouldn't take offence at the posts as theres some right twats out there exploiting people - as there are in all fields.

SiamoFottuti · 02/09/2011 21:39

thats some fancy looking certificates. Are they actually accredited by anyone that matters...like the BPS?

seeker · 02/09/2011 21:41

Ah. Enough said.

scottishmummy · 02/09/2011 21:43

has the wee matters of
accreditation
statutory registration
regulatory body been covered
....no?
thought not

LaurieFairyCake · 02/09/2011 21:44

She is bps and bacp accred (like me)

LaurieFairyCake · 02/09/2011 21:45

But my website is better Grin

scottishmummy · 02/09/2011 21:47

any baps accreditation to chuck in

SiamoFottuti · 02/09/2011 21:47

She might be personally. But not as a past life regressionist. And those courses certainly aren't.
Nice swerve though.

scottishmummy · 02/09/2011 21:48

yes, there are psychologists and psychologists like linda topofthepopadopalous and her swishy hair

seeker · 02/09/2011 21:53

I think it costs about 90 quid to become a member the General Hypnotherapy Register.

Interesting that she doesn't mention her qualifications on her website........

LaurieFairyCake · 02/09/2011 22:00

You can become a member of the gen hypno council after a one day course. Ain't worth anything. Most aren't.

SiamoFottuti · 02/09/2011 22:01

You can buy earn the diploma in 2 weeks and with £1095. Might get me one of those. I'm already BPS and IPS accredited, so I could look the part......

seeker · 02/09/2011 22:02

So why did you link to scam-lady's dodgy website?

LaurieFairyCake · 02/09/2011 22:13

She's not a scam just because her courses aren't accred (as you said she is personally).

I linked to it as people were interested, lots of info on there.

She's very nice, met her at a couple of events.

Whatmeworry · 02/09/2011 22:14

Ooo I've messed around with boats in this places too, DH and now DCs are keen sailors... You could regress as far as this next year :)

Ancient Boats

LaurieFairyCake · 02/09/2011 22:14

I teach a non-accred counselling course, doesn't mean I'm dodgy Confused

SiamoFottuti · 02/09/2011 22:18

Counselling is logical though, and an established proper technique. Past life regression is the reiki of the psychotherapy world. Its about as sensible and rational as angel readings and crystal healing.

scottishmummy · 02/09/2011 22:20

im sure she laughs all the way to the bank.smiling as she coins it in from faux-therapy

LaurieFairyCake · 02/09/2011 22:22

It's just hypnotherapy - are you anti hypnotherapy? I wouldn't compare it to reiki, not my sort of thing.

exoticfruits · 02/09/2011 22:22

It seems to me that they all appear to have past lives that speak English-no one starts spouting in Japanese or the language of an obscure South American tribe. I should leave well alone (unless you have more money then sense).

willowcrow · 02/09/2011 22:23

I'd love to do this... One thing I found really interesting was in Bill Brysons 'A short history of nearly everything' where he says that each one of us has up to a billion atoms that were once other humans, those who lived long ago. A specific example given being Shakespeare.

So I'm wondering if some of the deja vu or unexplainable irrational feelings we experience in unusual places or situations, are not in some way related to the atoms within us and their memory? or is that just foolish Hmm

seeker · 02/09/2011 22:26

I'm not anti hypnotherwpy. i'm anti people setting themselves up as an Academy and selling meaningless paper that people can then use to part the vulnerable from their money because they think they are being treated by a person with proper training and qualifications.

SiamoFottuti · 02/09/2011 22:26

atoms don't have a memory.

And its not just hypnotherapy, its hypnotherapy with added bunkum. If you're BPS accredited you must have studied real scientific psychology? Where has your logic gone?

bumpsoon · 02/09/2011 22:27

To be fair to your friend happyfinnish , modern mental health establishments still use electric shock treatment ,without fully understanding why it works ! But it does .

scottishmummy · 02/09/2011 22:28

alluding to therapy when utilising poor practices such as no robust research basis, poor clinical pathway,no demonstrable ourtcomes and overall woo-hoo.

its ropy, and up there with the other quackery aromatherapy, craniopathy, reiki, colour therapy
