AIBU?

to think two 12 year old boys should not be masterbating simultaneously?

We were camping last weekend and my DS and his friend, both 12, were whispering frantically during the night when I woke up, I then caught the gist of the conversation and what was going on. I presume (hope!) each was pleasuring himself at the same time and not doing something to each other.

Do I a) ignore it as a healthy, natural thing for two boys to do as they discover their sexuality?
or
b) tell my son it's fine to do it, but it's something he should really do on his own in private in future.

I'm worried that if this gets out then he will be teased and his life will be a misery.

Thanks in advance for any advice

I do think that chipsycheese needs to come back and clarify.

And the user name is horribly appropriate for the topic.

at myself for even thinking that

This is extremely common behaviour in boys this age from what I know. I wouldn't worry or give it another thought.

Grin at Mme

Where's ScrambledSmegs when you need her?!

Sorry OP, I do feel for you. My DH says it's normal and not to worry. If you confront him you'll just both be horribly embarrassed.

Wanking was most definitely a competitive sport for the boys I knew who went to boarding school so apparently very normal.

Hmm.. I think the only message for your DS is not to be pressured into anything he doesn't want to do and not to pressure anyone else either. And to remember tents with lights in provide a shadow show and to keep the noise down when camping.

After all, either or both of the boys might be gay and so trying to tell them - ooh you don't do this with another boy present - is kind of sending the wrong message if you're not homophobic or open to the fact that your child might be gay.

Chipsycheese Didn't anyone complain? Stag do or not, there are limits! Snurk at MMeLindor's suspicion that everyone merely raised their menus and sipped their Pimms trying to avoid catching sight of a penis (is the plural of penis, peni or penii or neither?)

I'm fine Hully... although my analogies have gone a bit mental while you were away. I may or my not have ranted about yellow stilettos on a TV license thread and thought it made perfect sense (it did).

How are you?

Wreckajones
I was imagining more a studied ignoring and a slight tut at the moment of glory, then a shuffle and a tugging of cardigans before resuming the conversation about the terrible trouble Margaret has been having with her gardener.

Ah I see MmeLindor - more sherry/ port and lemonade than Pimms then? Can't imagine anyone finishing off their sausages and mash with much gusto. Hoping no one was mid-dinner at the time.

yy. Sherry or Port.

"Well, I told Marjorie that it was a mistake to book this place for dinner, but did she listen?"

"Yes, yes, I know Walter. It did have a slightly salubrious reputation at one point but we had the voucher from the Miltenthorpe Evening News for the Sunday Sausage Special. I had no idea they meant that kind of sausage".
