i went to his watersports comp today, last time i went i was pg and hated it. Went today with the dcs and still hated ir.
I hate being cold, i hate it being windy, i dislike those women who sit in groups with their kids with their windbreakers/white stuff clothes/tousled hair/surfy jumpers and how they dont mind being there and their dcs play happily. I hate the feel of sand, i hate feeling dirty, i do not want to sleep in a bloody tent when i have a house, im not 5 its not fun!

Dh thinks i am too uptight and that i cant relax, and i think he has a point, i mean i could cope with the beach if it was in front of a 5* spa resort with a sun lounger and parasol. I like hotels, i like shopping, i like lunches and coffees and spas.

So aibu for not liking the other stuff? Is dh right? Am i an uptight freak who just cant chill? Or is anyone else like this?
(oh and im not slagging people off who do like this stuff, i just dont)

But cat64 i agree, however ALL the other wives/gfs go and seem perfectly happy, i think dh is secretly a bit pissed off that i dont make an effort.
We had a row when he got home today and i told him he can go windsurfing/sleeping in his van whenever he likes but he is to never EVER ask me again to go because im not.

I love the beach and don't live too far from miles and miles of practically deserted sandy beaches. It's beautiful there all year round. But I hate the sea. Nothing, short of something horrifying like the DDs in trouble in it, would get me to go in the sea. Things live in it, things die in it, things copulate in it.

I love the beach-especially out of season. However I should compromise-go -but not in a tent.

"i told him he can go windsurfing/sleeping in his van whenever he likes but he is to never EVER ask me again to go because im not."

Soundds like an Australian teen soapGrin

Why does he want you there?

Because the other wives are?

Not something I´d want to do & I wouldn´t expect someone not participating in the sport to be interested either tbh.

My DH is in a band, they play great music at least once a month, I get on with the band & WAGs but I don't want to go to every gig (esp the daytime ones that involve me trying to keep my toddler in his pushchair). I don't particularly like loud, live music.

So no YANBU to refuse to 'follow the drum.'

So mosschops, will I be seeing you on the beach in Tenby for the Wales iron man tournament on sept 11 ?
Might go and watch the mad fools happy competitors , if I sponsor them it means I don't have to take part ( shudders)

Ripeberry · 29/08/2011 20:20

Do you have the means to go to spas and 5* hotels? If not then camping it is Grin

Nope, I dislike beaches too. About 90% of the time. I can cope with a winter walk along one (especially the one in North Norfolk on New Year's Day when a group of people with a beach hut were accosting all passers-by with mulled wine and scones), but too, too many childhood holidays with salt water on very sensitive skin, sand in the sandwiches, hair, drinks, mouth, ears, eyes, and icy winds blowing in off the North Sea, combined with the donkey bolting with me on board at the age of about 3 (didn't stop me learning to ride, mind!), the lugging half a tonne of equipment / towels to the beach and back..... urggghhhhhh no thanks.

Don't even get me started on camping...
