Who actually cares enough to send this chap to prison? Why? Is he dangerous? Is he disgusting? Is he a criminal? here

"He has been repeatedly arrested in the street outside Perth Prison by police waiting for him to be released at the end of each sentence"

Police lying in wait to arrest a man who, odd as he seems to be to me, is causing no bloody harm to anyone but the most Victorian.

He's an easy "nick" and the police must be either laying bets on who can collar him first or just doing it for the craic. What a waste of public money and police time.

In the eyes of the law he's a criminal, sure.

And the law is a ass!

GypsyMoth · 24/08/2011 19:11

I assume he wants to live his life naked? So shopping, restaurants etc.... Hosp appointments, hospital visiting, all public places..... You think that's ok?

How much would THAT cost society? There would be hundreds ringing police daily reporting him. That's going to cost

worraliberty · 24/08/2011 19:12

You don't 'think' you'd care that much or you wouldn't care Cervix

Think of other scenarios if everyone were allowed to be naked.

Your daughter going off to a pub or a party...totally starkers.

Getting in a taxi/taking the bus totally starkers.

Going on a first date to the pictures...her and her BF totally starkers.

Glitterknickaz · 24/08/2011 19:13

A nice green mankini would be just the ticket.

AtYourCervix · 24/08/2011 19:14

why not? she's a prude so highly unlikely but if she wanted to i don't see a problem with it.

OP posts:
worraliberty · 24/08/2011 19:16

And another thing....

Think of the thread on MN..."The naked man in the kid's playground got an erection today...I think he was looking at my child at the time"

The police would be inundated with accusations (though it would be quite amusing to see them turn up naked too) Grin

worraliberty · 24/08/2011 19:17

why not? she's a prude so highly unlikely but if she wanted to i don't see a problem with it

That's fair enough.

But a lot of parents of teens I know, are worried sick about them going at weekends now. If they were going out naked, I think they'd have a heart attack Lol.

AtYourCervix · 24/08/2011 19:18

they need to relax a bit. nudity is good for relaxation - they should try it.

OP posts:
GypsyMoth · 24/08/2011 19:20

Ridiculous. Totally. And the police will be outside simply because the pathetic man refuses to behave lawfully. He fully intends to be naked in public every time. He deserves it

Would you want this around your dc? In school, street, youth clubs and sports clubs? Snd if course one gets away with it, then it sets a precedent....... Everyone would be able. Even all the registered sex offenders out on licence. Suddenly doesn't sound so great does it?!

worraliberty · 24/08/2011 19:22

Mmm not sure really. I do think the chances of a sexual assault on a naked teenager coming out of a nightclub would increase a tad Cervix

Sad, but true.

Pixel · 24/08/2011 19:25

If he's breaking the law how come hundreds of people are allowed to ride their bikes through Brighton stark naked every year? I've never understood how they get away with it but apparently it's ok for them but 'indecent exposure' if anyone else does it.

Theala · 24/08/2011 19:26

I would like to know more about why he wants to be naked all the time. What his reasoning behind all this is - is it an anti-society thing, is he just being defiant, or does he actually have a point to make other than "being naked is nice"?

And I say this as someone who likes going to nudist beaches. Being naked is fab. Scaring small children or discomfiting their parents - not so much. :)

cmt1375 · 24/08/2011 19:27

I have just had a huge rant about this at home... so I won't do it here too., however I would rather see him naked in my highstreet than pay thousands (probably several hundered thousand by now) for him to spend this long in jail. It obviously isn't working as a deterent.
If you are trying to correct your childs behaviour and the sanction you were imposing was making no difference you would look at it again. The same needs to happen here.
You either need to look at the law he is breaking to see if it is necessary or the deterent to see if it can be changed to be more effective.
In this case he hasn't hurt anyone, he just doesn't share the same values as most of society in respect to clothes and the human body.

He has hurt no-one so arresting him for standing naked outside a prison is just overcrowding jails, costing the tax payer a fortune and giving him a responsibility free 2 yrs with bed and board provided. It is not changing his views.

In danger of ranting again so I'll stop

Claire

AtYourCervix · 24/08/2011 19:27

does he really deserve 10 years in prison because he doesn't want to wear clothes?

AtYourCervix · 24/08/2011 19:29

ad wot cmt said.that too.

GypsyMoth · 24/08/2011 19:30

It's the constant breach of the peace which gets him arrested!!

His choice....... Plenty if things we don't want to do, but if we go ahead we run the risk of being prosecuted, so he deserves it. He knows what will happen

worraliberty · 24/08/2011 19:30

does he really deserve 10 years in prison because he doesn't want to wear clothes?

No, he deserves it for repeatedly breaking the law though.

We live in a society where we are not allowed to simply disregard laws that we don't agree with.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 24/08/2011 19:32

"Would you want this around your dc? In school, street, youth clubs and sports clubs?"

Wont somebody think of the children? Wink

But your DCs are around naked people in changing rooms, not seen anyone have a problem with that? (although I'm sure there is someone on MN who doesnt approve of nudity in appropriate places either Grin)

worraliberty · 24/08/2011 19:32

There are places he can go if he wants to be legally naked in public. He chooses not to go to those places and knowing what will happen, he chooses to break the law instead.

GypsyMoth · 24/08/2011 19:32

Assume he would walk away from the prison if not arrested? And into public places

He would be causing many people to call police, more public money wasted. He would be laughed at,ridiculed and possibly attacked...... More police involvement. And on it would go

Think about it?

GypsyMoth · 24/08/2011 19:34

Beyond...... No, my teen dd's avoid them. The local sex offender would perhaps love brushing up against your dc whilst changing though eh?Hmm

halcyondays · 24/08/2011 19:35

He isn't getting 10 years, he's getting less than 2 years. I wouldn't want to see people wandering the streets naked, a nudist beach or something is different, it's a specially designated area. I wouldn't want to see people's bits on the bus, at the playground or in the middle of Tesco. Why can't he just wear clothes like everybody else?

AtYourCervix · 24/08/2011 19:35

would people really call the police if they saw a chap rambling naked? really? i might smirk a bit and wonder about his mental health but if someone was just wandering along minding their own business unclothed i wouldn't.

OP posts:
Ivortheengine8 · 24/08/2011 19:36

I don't know how you can compare that to a BF woman. I wouldn't like to bump into him tbh.
Pixel has a point though, Thats just as stupid if you ask me.

AtYourCervix · 24/08/2011 19:37

combine Hmm with Confused and hat's what my face just did at your comment Tiff.
