Found on MSE Forums

"Newbie Alert

MSE requests you give newbies a chance - please be especially nice."

Should we adopt that here? Some seem to get their sick kicks in scaring newbies off by being particularly nasty, shouldn't posters be nice to newbies?

OP posts:

The only WTF attacking reply that i have ever had on here, to a post, and after explaining it, did not receive an apology (yet another poster who had agreed with me did get an apology) was from..............the OP.

I haven't been bullied yet and I not only...

Am a relative newbie.
Cannot punctuate for shit.
Occasionally loll around on car bonnets in short skirts thus destroying everything feminism has built up for women.
But started my very first thread in AIBU on the very first day I joined up...

Shouldn't I have been massacred for at least one of the above? I'm feeling left out - is that in itself a form of bullying though? Ooooh, my brain hurts.

Thumbwitch · 24/08/2011 16:09

Depends whether or not you WBU, LadyFlump.

I have no clue who newbies are until they advertise the fact, rather like the numpty interesting lady who has posted her lovelife arrangements in Relationships as an "introduction".

Newbie-bashing - nah. Picking up anyone who displays ignorant, unreasonable or some kind of -ist behaviour on the boards = normal. And it can happen to anyone, even so-called "royalty".

And that, Thumbwitch, is why I much prefer MN to any other parenting forum I have used. Contrary to Mitmoo's experience (did you know you spellcheck as "Titmouse" BTW?) I have found MN to be extremely un-clique(y?) and fair with it's self moderating.

Red2011 · 24/08/2011 16:26

enjoying myself here so far. Am on some other mum-related sites and they are soooo dull. Plus they don't let you swear. Have yet to explore all the deep dark crevices of MN though...

TheBigJessie · 24/08/2011 16:26

Never been on MSE forums, but I infer from that message that they must already have a substantial problem with cliquishness. Probably won't post there then.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/08/2011 16:31

You know who you are tethersend and Flumpalot

tethersend · 24/08/2011 16:33

She started it.

LadyFlumpalot · 24/08/2011 16:34

Did not! SO UNFAIR I hate you all.

Thumbwitch · 24/08/2011 16:36

having read mummymccar's post, I can safely say that MSE is a forum I hope I never need to visit! 1 month to find a new home, pack and move and people telling you to "grow up" and "get over it"?? A-maz-ing. Hmm

Stay here, mummymccar - we're much more helpful than that (and would have come up with lots of inventive choices of revenge on the LL as well, just for fun) Grin

BupcakesandCunting · 24/08/2011 16:45

Twats.

Funnily enough tethers, that is how I made quite a few friends at school, getting into trouble together!

Whatmeworry · 24/08/2011 16:55

Newbie + Controversial Post = All Bets are Off :o

CotesduRhone · 24/08/2011 17:03

I want a fucking clique, I am just as much of an abusive bastard as the rest of you, I deserve it. Angry

I don't know, I'm a newbie and I've had nothing but niceness from all. Perhaps related to the fact that I tend to not talk out of my jacksie? Or maybe it's just because I swear, apparently that's the secret.

CotesduRhone · 24/08/2011 17:07

Of course it could just be because I am actually being ignored by a ginormous and all-powerful clique.

Fine, screw you all, I am going to eat all the Biscuit by myself

Thumbwitch · 24/08/2011 17:08

did someone say something?

Ta for the smoke [tucks it behind ear] I'll be down behind the bike shed cutting the hem off my skirt.
