Found on MSE Forums

"Newbie Alert

MSE requests you give newbies a chance - please be especially nice."

Should we adopt that here? Some seem to get their sick kicks in scaring newbies off by being particularly nasty, shouldn't posters be nice to newbies?

OP posts:

I rememeber the thread with the fecked up (ASDA I think it was) grocery order.

MSE flayed her alive.

MNers were looking for solutions and offering advice and support.

I know where I'd rather be!

caramelwaffle · 24/08/2011 09:58

Oooooh. "simply vaile.."

I like that, Bupcakes

Gimme, gimme, gimme (?)

caramelwaffle · 24/08/2011 10:00

Yes. The ASDA thread. How on earth could MSE flay her alive? She was positively desperate. MSE prats.

BupcakesandCunting · 24/08/2011 10:01

You can have it, caramel. Wink

See? Community spirit alive and well on MN.

AuntieMonica · 24/08/2011 10:01

is the 'newbie alert' thing tagged to your posts then?

fuck's sake, as if there isn't enough labelling and judging in this life, someone wants to add more?

caramelwaffle · 24/08/2011 10:01
Grin
Blatherskite · 24/08/2011 10:03

Most of the MSE posts were posters looking down thier noses at the "newbie" and snorting about how she could have been so thick as to not know about ring fencing funds.

And they all knew she was a newbie because it says so next to every single post on MSE.

There's no way of telling here unless you start searching for previous posts

CaptainMartinCrieff · 24/08/2011 10:06

I remember that thread too... MSE were horrendous to her for not knowing the money taking practices of the supermarket. MNers were asking her she was and saying they could help with essentials bread, milk, nappies etc...

I name change frequently but I'm not popular so I imagine people think I'm a newbie frequently and I've never been rude to, swore at, accused of being a troll etc...

Maybe Mitmoo if you feel badly treated you need to look at your own style of posting, it might become clear why you get some of the responses you do! Smile

ShirleyKnot · 24/08/2011 10:07

It's weird really. I know that when I started using MN I just sort of..got on with it, and I've never had a problem here.

I wonder why that is.

SinicalSal · 24/08/2011 10:08

i'm off to bully newbies

make yourselves known, bitchez

BertieBotts · 24/08/2011 10:09

On another site I know, you register and then you can't post until the following Tuesday (known as "newbie Tuesday") - this is supposed to give you a bit of a chance to lurk and see the lay of the land before you dive right in and say something which is going to offend 99% of posters. I would guess that having it on a specific day gives the grumpiest of the oldies the chance to avoid the onslaught Grin

BupcakesandCunting · 24/08/2011 10:09

It's because you're scary, Shirley. Really scary. Who would mess with you? WHO?

SuePurblybilt · 24/08/2011 10:09

Oh, I have to go out now. So no fair
Someone bully some newbies for me? I'll do yours next week.

ShirleyKnot · 24/08/2011 10:10

B3TA! BB. I got fucking FUHLAAAAMED on there a few years ago. Because I asked it anyone had a picture of Derek off Coronation Street's "paperclip car".

That whole sentence makes sense to me.

BertieBotts · 24/08/2011 10:12

ShirleyKnot · 24/08/2011 10:14

I did get on the front page of QOTW a couple of times though.
