DS's dad won't let him join the choir

DS is in the school choir and wants to audition for the church choir. His father however says he can't possibly do so as he will develop a side mouth. AIBU in saying this should be DS's choice as 11 years old?

its where the mouth stretches to the side. If it gets really bad it can develop into airbrow. I must admit I would feel guilty if DS developed these conditions as his dad would blame me and it would be another case of "I told you so"
