To fantasize what I would do with my time if I didn't have kids?

I do appreciate how lucky I am to have kids...BUT...

How wonderful it would be...lazy weekends, mid afternoon sex anywhere in the house, drunken nights out and hangovers spent in bed...

I find it's great for a day. But then I'm bored shitless and wonder how on earth I managed to fill the hours before children.

Hey I don't have to fantasise, my eldest is 23 just finished Uni off in London now, and my youngest 18 is off to Uni this year. For the first time in 27 years I will live alone! Just me and my dog! Im excited.

Get into a bath without sitting on a my little pony or some other bit of plastic neon shite.

Oh you've reminded me FabbyChic - not having to be house bound from 7pm. Long evening walks! And losing hours in a really good book...

No kids here, so I can report the following from the last couple of weeks:
sex, long lie-ins, getting up early and going for a walk, working on my novel, painting the bedroom, reading good books, reading bad books, going to the cinema, cooking new meals, volunteering, having lunch out, mowing the 'wild flower meadow' and trying to do something with all the grass that results, growing veg, meeting up with friends, getting in the car and having days out at random, and babysitting the nieces and nephews...

(If that sounds like rather a lot, I'm currently having a holiday at home to use up the rest of my holiday allowance before our year end.)

I love time away from my kids. But I would be bored if I had all the time in the world with myself. I can't remember the last time I was bored in the seven years I have been a mum. Was bored quite a bit pre-kids. I have 3 days without them this weekend and I will be taking full advantage but will be happy to see them at the end of it :)

yanbu...my dream will come true this weeken when MiL has offered to have the GC :)

Lie-ins, definitely.

I was more effective at work as well (without half an eye on pickup times and half my mind on home-related "to do" lists)

Baths.

Having a half-decent house which stayed tidy for more than 2 nanoseconds.

There used to be more sex, that's for sure. Hmm. If I actually had consistent, non-exhausted time without kids ... probably take up music again, leave the house in the evenings sometimes, sleep for 8 uninterrupted hours EVERY NIGHT! (oh my god what would that be like? the mind boggles). Read, bathe, luxuriate, and miss my kids, i guess...

We don't have children. I do lots of voluntary work, we have three dogs, I spend time with friends and family, we both enjoy cooking, gardening and drinking wine, I quilt, make cards and do cross stitch. DH loves running. We've had an exhausting year, as I helped care for my friend with terminal cancer who died in the spring and my aunt needed an emergency operation and support later in the year including a stay with us after her hospital visit. However, I was very happy to be able to help in both cases.

Between now and Christmas I'll be making about two hundred Christmas cards, for a charity shop to sell, and hand made Christmas presents/cards for us.

I simply cannot imagine being bored and I often wish I had a time turner to be able to squeeze in a few extra hours.

YANBU. I do this a fair bit, in fact going one step further, I even fantasise about a life without ds AND dh

In my "alternative" life I am early twenties, childless and not in relationship.

I live in a trendy flat overlooking Covent Garden, plenty of people watching opportunities.

I am a freelance something or other.

I date various people and have various men for different occasions. One who is cultured who I'll go for nice meals with then on to the theatre/opera. Another who I can happily sink pints with in a spit and sawdust pub till the early hours etc etc and host dinner parties with plenty of friends.

No responsibilties, long luxurious baths whenever I please. Pink Floyd full blast on the stereo.

I think about this wayyyy too much

I would go out after dark.
I don't think I've been out in the dark for about 4 yrs.
