to call for a "stories of satisfying outcomes" thread?

I spend a lot of time on here being aghast at so many tales of piss-taking people, unreasonable family members, mad randomers, lazy so-and-so's and generally unpleasant behaviours. Quite often we never get the end of the story. If indeed it does ever end.

So what I would really like to read is a thread of good outcomes, where people have been stood up to and the valiant poster has restored balance and justice in the true Mumsnettian way.

Anyone?

The thing is that we are only ever getting one side of the story, I think if we heard both sides your 'aghast-ness' might seem misplaced

I'd like to read those stories, too! But I agree with spiderpig - sometimes it's hard to believe the OPs of some threads are the innocents they are portraying themselves to be.

Would that be the time-honoured tradition of calling the transgressor a cunt, twunt, twat, fuckwit or similar, and telling them to fuck the fuck off and when they get there fuck off some more?

Call me a cynic, but I somehow doubt that an outbreak of balance and justice or peace and harmony ensues after diplomatic negotiations a la mumsnet have been entered into

Not so satisfying.

Very complicated history with my mother who flits from one bloke to the next. She wanted to bring new bloke to the hospital after my CSection and I had only met him twice.

I said no. She has long history of going out with nut cases and she is unhinged herself. I asked if IWBU. Most said no.

Despite my request she pitched up with new bloke in my room just as I had arrived on the ward. Piss take!

I want to know how the poster got on who was going on the caravan-holiday-from-hell with the drunk MIL, assorted other relatives and dogs.

YANBU - YAB a tad Unrealistic but, nevertheless, the law of averages dictates that there must be some success stories along the lines of 'how mumsnet made me/my dh/dp/dc/dps/ils et al realise what a cunt/twunt/twat/fuckwit I/s/he was/they were' or 'how I/we lived happily ever after thanks to mumsnet'.

I think that people should at least come back with an update. I am thinking of the one where the poster's DD 'never lied' and, according to her, the teacher hit her. It seemed very odd for the teacher to hit a quiet, helpful 6yr old! The Head was looking into it (not fast enough for the OP). She never came back-I can only think that it was all a complete misunderstanding, but it does seem unfair to get lots of advice and then never tell us the outcome. There are a lot of threads where OP has a problem and then disappears!

I suppose it's not really updates I was hoping for.
It was more stories of Unreasonable people getting their comeuppance/seeing the light.

There was a good one from last night or the night before where someone asked for advice on how to tell an old friend she fancied him. She messaged him at our urging, heard nowt, but came back today with a happy ending. Hat buying all round. That was good.

And don't forget the penguin one in classics :) Poific!

If I come out with a problem MNers have lost interest by the time it resolves itself... sometimes things don't have tidy endings - My dd is still alive (I'm pleased about this btw) and I hope she never attempts suicide again...

ExP did the final dirty by emigrating without telling me either through solicitor - or mutual friends... I only found out when CSA stopped, and only then did a mutual friend decided it was only kindness to tell me he'd emigrated to marry the Doctor he'd met whilst on tour in East Timor.
His other Ex - the 'other woman' is still probably heartbroken and grieving the two miscarriages and one still birth she had - his new wife probably knows nothing of his having a son (with me) or the sad, sad losses of his other children.

I'm sure none of you know of these sagas, though MN got me through these events with my sanity (very nearly) intact and my dignity without dint, dent or scratch... so, thank you Mumsnet

It would be lovely if unreasonable people got their comeuppance/saw the light, but I think it is quite rare.
It is rare enough on AIBU for someone to actually see that they were, and say so.
Unreasonable people generally go on being unreasonable-quite oblivious to the fact!
