To have found hoovering fruit flies strangely therapeutic?

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 18:37

woke up this morning to find infestation of fruit flies in my kitchen (I have tracked down the source, ds trying to be 'helpful" and putting away things that needed binning, in a VERY secret location!)

But half an hour of hoovering has left me feeling cleansed and happy? Fruit flies are really stupid. They cannot escape the power of the miele!

Anyone else have weirdy cleaning methods that make them happy?

I get bugged for at least 1 week every year by fruit flies in my kitchen (this week actually) and I still can't work out for the life of me what's attracting them.

I don't keep fruit in the kitchen and rarely have fresh veg as we prefer frozen.

Pamplemoussse · 20/08/2011 18:45

fruit flies like a banana and time flies like an arrow

[deeeeep man]

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 18:45

Fruit flies are the work of the devil. Verily.

No, but my sister was wondering why there were fruitflies coming out of her husbands wardrobe, and found a few years worth of banana peel...

They are now divorced, of course.

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 18:51

A few YEARS worth? wtf?

worraliberty · 20/08/2011 18:53

They are now divorced, of course

Banana split then? Sad

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 18:56

Or a Knickerbocker Glory?

(at being liberated from bananas ex)

Fuck me, I hoovered fruit flies only yesterday but didn't tell anyone in case they thought I was unhinged.

worraliberty · 20/08/2011 19:00

cleanteeth · 20/08/2011 19:01

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 19:03

tethersend · 20/08/2011 19:06

We are the true FlyLadies

(Were the bananas in his, err, pyjamas? See what I did there?)

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 19:09

OOOH! NOoooo! Bananas In Pajamas! Still a tv hate object since ds' small days

Any any other interpretation is just grim...specially with attendant flies!

You'll know for sure if he was chasing teddybears.

I like to polish taps, does that count?

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 19:16

I think it depends on what you polish them with. J cloth is fine, used knickers is not.

just a thought.

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 19:17

Teddy bear abuse? OMG!!!!! its so very wrong. was also shocked this week to be introduced to paedobear...apparently some little bear pic that gets inserted into other pics as a "laugh" Felt sick and berated the introductee mightily

OP: you are strange. But I envy you your small pleasures.

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 19:20

Hey, I got tethersend and clean on my side!

I think it is more common that we think. and VERY efficient?

Pray, how do you banish the evil fruit fly?

OP posts:
SuePurblybilt · 20/08/2011 19:23

You are as mad as a string bag of weasels Dr.P, but none the worse for that.

I think fly papers work on them cos they're slow.

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 19:27

But Sue, the point is, it was FUN! how could I not share that with MN?

It would have been very very wrong of me. Try it!

EduStudent · 20/08/2011 19:27

We're currently infested with fruit flies.

From a bag of fucking potatoes. Potatoes

POTATOES!

Bloody idiots.

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 19:30

Edu, try the hoover, it is much fun? A not like popping spots but much much more hygenic!

OP posts:
DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 19:31

I bit like...gah!

OP posts:
ProcrastinatorGeneral · 20/08/2011 19:31

Get a tin, tub or other deep receptacle. Put a piece of fruit in it, bit of banana, apple core etc. Cover in cling film, then pierce a hole in the top. Leave in the room with flies. Flies crawl in, can't crawl out. Laugh at their feebleness, for failing to see your trap.

Ahem.

DrPolidori · 20/08/2011 19:32

OMG! You have taken this to a whole other, evil, deeply satisfying level!
