(for babies, obviously... I can manage it just fine)

DS (8mo) hates that page so much I have to skip two pages at once.

DS2 has problems with that page but can manage it now he is 2.

YANBU.

AIBU for wondering why all of the characters are male? Doesn't the zoo think the female animals deserve a loving home outside of the zoo? And do they do a health and safety check to see if the boy's home can cope with a tiger, giraffe, elephant etc?

thisisyesterday · 20/08/2011 18:44

all of mine have loved the book and we've never really had any trouble with the camel!

well, until ds3 came along and ripped all the doors off.

BosomForAPillow · 20/08/2011 18:45

Never had any trouble with the camel either.

Sounds like you've got the hump about nothing.

lastonetoleaveturnoutthelights · 20/08/2011 18:54

The camel doors got ripped off very early on. And I'm VERY careful with kids books as well. (It wasn't me who ripped the doors off).

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 20/08/2011 18:58

I think the snake is quite difficult to open too.

Aislingorla · 20/08/2011 19:17

Love it!
Have had to buy that book 3 times as over enthusiastic use had led to almost all the doors being torn off (3 kids), Just bought it for my nephew, must ask my D.S if they've had trouble with the camel door!

islandbaby · 20/08/2011 19:43

Ho ho ho, the hump. Very good, bosom :)

PorkChopSter · 20/08/2011 19:45

It's the only one that needs two hands. The rest are ok if you bend the book slightly.

Meglet · 20/08/2011 19:52

Our camel is still safely inside his crate.

The elephant and the lion are running loose.

timetomoveon · 20/08/2011 20:12

Camel was fine. It was the lion who proved troublesome.

motherinferior · 20/08/2011 20:31

Surely you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off? Grin

IgnoringTheChildren · 20/08/2011 20:31

YABU! However I suppose that the version of the book may make a difference here - do you have the board book or paperback version?

titan · 21/08/2011 00:31

YANBU. DS is 12 months and only ever does the left side of the camel box!

TheSkiingGardener · 21/08/2011 06:05

DS (14 months) can do both doors, but is annoyed he has to. When he was 12 months he only bothered with one.

VFVF · 21/08/2011 08:28

Is it just me that really doesn't like Dear Zoo? DD was given it and it just smacks of spoilt child to me Smile They sent me a frog, but he was too jumpy, so I sent him back because he wasn't good enough, So they thought really hard because their efforts have been crap so far and sent me a puppy!

Cattleprod · 21/08/2011 08:33

Imagine the chaos if zoos really did send out random dangerous animals to children who wrote to them!

LisasCat · 21/08/2011 09:00

And what zoo would have just a bog standard domestic dog at its disposal? Where are the labradors at London Zoo, then?
