To Think Stupid Woman Lovely Man

Driving home this evening son ASD/OCD, mum heart disease disabled, and the tyre goes as flat as a pancake. I was on a country road so I pull into a village and park up in a safe place. Village idiot (woman) says "your car smells like it is burning"

"I have a flat" I reply.

"So you do" she says. Then says "can you move your car it's on the road outside my house". No drive, just a road, no yellow lines, nothing, but my car had the audacity to come to a halt outside her house.

I asked not in a nasty tone but more one of bewilderment if she is joking, she then looks embarrassed.

Another man from the same village came out and me being a dumb ass woman and ashamed to admit I can't change a tyre on MN, changed it for me then didn't want the £20 I was trying to give him for helping. He did take it as we were so grateful. Having him helping helped keep my son calm, and made sure we all got home in one piece.

He was absolutely lovely, happy to help, a true gent. I haven't had help with my car since I was a size 10 and wearing skirts that my Mum called pelmets.

Son is very shaken, doesn''t cope well with things out of the norm but if it wasn't for the lovely man he'd be in a terrible state now.

But we're home (obviously) am I being unreasonable to think the woman was a silly moo to ask me to move my broken down gilloppy when it had a flat and the man was a true gent and happy to help me, my Mum and son on our way?

You should not need a basic car course to learn how to change a wheel.

It really ought to be part of getting a driving licence in my view, for everyone, as it is a basic necessity of knowing how to use a vehicle.

Mitmoo · 16/08/2011 22:19

2shoes it is better to be "horrid about the woman" on an anonymous website or "to be horrid to the woman" in the street which did not happen. I think you are missing the difference.

you should learn to do anything like that really, what if there isnt a nice man next time? out of interest can you check the oil and such?

joric · 16/08/2011 22:20

You seem to be ignoring the fact that this 'village idiot ' may have problems of her own OP. The situation you found yourself in was difficult but a bit of understanding all round wouldn't be a bad thing.

DurhamDurham · 16/08/2011 22:20

I try to keep a positive outlook (annoyingly so at times!) and would have put the unhelpful woman out of my head and would focus on the lovely man who did help. It's hard not to dwell on the negatives but really you are the only one who is still annoyed, I bet the 'village idiot' hasn't given you another thought.

Not a nice term by the way, judge not lest you be judged, I think the saying goes.

Mitmoo · 16/08/2011 22:21

festi she wasn't called an idiot. This is an anonymous site Confused

What 2Shoes said.
Are you going to post every detail of everything that happens in your life on MN? Like on Facebook?

Mitmoo · 16/08/2011 22:23

squeaky You are so right, I need to do a basic course because it is daft to get hit with a £150 call out charge from the AA RAC etc for something so simple than can be done for nothing.

Embarrassed.

Try, don't be horrible about the woman at all < searches for thread from woman who had car parked outside her house which made her feel ??? for, ??? Reason >

Mitmoo · 16/08/2011 22:24

OP posts:
joric · 16/08/2011 22:25

Agree Durham

Mitmoo · 16/08/2011 22:25

joric she might, I wasn't nasty to her, only anonymously on here. She will never know what I think.

OP posts:
festi · 16/08/2011 22:27

but she was called an idiot you just called her an idiot at 21:40:01 on here, it is recorded there in your OP where you said....."village idiot (woman)" you may not have said it to her face but that is irrelevent, you are still emulating and behaving in a way and showing an attidue through your use of disablist language that you judged her and steriotyped her and marginalised her and people like your son and mother and that should be challenged.

joric · 16/08/2011 22:27

simples, are you
Did you really say that OP... ?????

She will never know what I think.

IME people who go round thinking unpleasant thoughts about others while maintaining a sickly sweet facade can be spotted a mile off.

joric · 16/08/2011 22:28

And you will never know what she thinks...

squeakytoy · 16/08/2011 22:29

joric she might, I wasn't nasty to her, only anonymously on here. She will never know what I think.

Well she will if she is a member on here.. there cant be that many villagers who had a woman with a flat tyre outside their house tonight.. Grin

Mitmoo · 16/08/2011 22:34

squeaky because the internet is such a small place - rolls eyes.

OP posts:
joric · 16/08/2011 22:36

You don't think YABU do you OP?

ProfessionallyOffendedGoblin · 16/08/2011 22:37

She never does.

festi · 16/08/2011 22:38

mitmoo there is no justification so give up trying and take some essence of what you are being told here and consider it.

thebeansmum · 16/08/2011 22:38

More than mildly amused at the irony of your comment @ 22.24 aimed at Professionally, 'dont' read it. Simples. Are you?' The apostrophe's in the wrong place in the word 'don't'.

Shuffles off to pedants corner - not normally a regular there, but couldn't resist it....

imo there is no difference, calling someone a village idiot especially when you have a child with sn......is well rather weird
