5-10 mins ish in and out, car is in a car park and not at risk of people just walking by apart from other nursery parents, mostly she's asleep (and I think if she's awake he takes her in..)

I DONT LIKE IT! AIBU?

rhonajean - extreme not the exact word I'd use...

rhondajean · 16/08/2011 21:08

Its better than having to explain to an overzealous police officer.

yanbu. my mum left me and my sis in a car for a few mins when we were around five and it rolled down hill. she left my sis in car and locked car keys in another time. on oprah woman left four kinds in car which caught fire. not to mention abduction. the chances are superlow but the potential result devastating. how hard is it to carry car seat in /

SiamoFottuti · 16/08/2011 22:55

pretty hard if you have more than one baby actually. Hmm

And there is no particular law on leaving a baby in a car. There are several laws that could be interpreted to be used for such a thing, but it isn't specifically illegal.

ChristinedePizan · 16/08/2011 22:59

If she's asleep I would leave her in the car.

LucreziaDomina · 16/08/2011 23:04

Indeed Siamo.
I leave all mine on a frequent basis. Try dragging four across a petrol station forecourt.

SiamoFottuti · 16/08/2011 23:17

too much of a risk Zia, isn't it? So much safer in the nice warm car, strapped into car seats.

YANBU.

Has anyone heard of Madeleine McCann?

RitaMorgan · 17/08/2011 09:08

Madeleine McCann - was she stolen from a locked car outside a nursery Shock

startail · 17/08/2011 09:11

I've left DD2 out side school, quiet dead end estate while I got DD1 from nursery.
Timings of short journey and early finishing nursery meant DD2 hardly ever got a proper nap from the day she was born. If she was asleep I hadn't the heart to risk waking her.

moonstorm · 17/08/2011 09:40

Pat at the pump garages mean you don't need to leave the car...

moonstorm · 17/08/2011 09:41

pay...

SiamoFottuti · 17/08/2011 10:23

I saw a brilliant example the other day of why you should leave small kids in the car on the forecourt. Woman insisted on dragging her toddler out of her two door car when she went to pay. toddler went into meltdown, kicking and screaming. She was so busy trying to stop him whacking her that she didn't notice a car pulling out from another row of pumps.

Situation dependent. Area not busy, quiet safe place, easy view - no problem. Busy city, massive car park, no visibility - different decision.
