Now I have a very WiseAndAppreciativeFace that I use for these instances, but my inside face is very Hmm.

Anyone else just feel they are an audience?

Ah OK, I missed that it was 90 minutes long and involved a violin!

My mother was a demon for this! Anytime we had visitors, we were always asked to perform something or tell a story - we hated it!

I never ever ask my kids to do these things for anybody. At best, it's showyoffy at worst it's pure nasty especially if the "audience" has SN children.

Spanish swearing is excellent, but can still get you into trouble. Shouting at partner who was down the bottom end of the garden and swearing at him in Spanish, the new neighbours popped their head over the fence and asked me to mind my language - in spanish!

Tis still worth it though, I had show offy intellectual parents, apparently my first word was Beethoven because they thought it would be cool. It was always, tell them what you're reading at the moment Jo. The swearing was taught by a very sensible (Spanish) grandmother, who knew thought that her daughter needed bringing down a peg or two!
I try not to do the show off thing with mine, in the main because three out of the four are aspies and wouldn't comply anyway. But if anyone starts I can be in with the best of them; did I mention that ds no.2 got his maths, history and r.e. gcses early and got A* for all of them? :)
