to wonder do i need a wedding bouquet for a registry office wedding?

DP and I are getting married in secret while on holiday next week - just us and DCs and some random strangers as witnesses. As its just us its all low key but I've organised a nice dress and all the bits for the day and suddenly thought do I have flowers? Just wondered if any of you MNers have done the same and would you have a bouquet?

Sorry if its a daft question but as its a secret I've no one else I can ask?

Well I would, just a small bunch - will look nice in the photos.

I did, got a bouquet of foam flowers but in the circs you describe I would say don't bother if you've not got the time/inclination to organise anything, it won't really make any difference.

Your choice. When I got married, I had to buy my own on the way to the church. All that was left was a scraggy bunch of daffs in an emerald green crepe paper sleeve.

I did, but I did have a wedding dress too. You could just have a small posy of flowers to accessorise. :)

I had a bouquet at my Registry Office wedding. Is there a florist at your holiday destination? I'm sure they could do you one on the day.

I ddn't have a bouquet of flowers, but I did get a florist to make a flower clip type thing that I wore on my small handbag. Looked lovely and felt right.

You don't need one for any type of wedding, but it gives you something to do with your hands during the vows.

Would you like some? Would it be helpful to have something to do with your hands if you're nervous? Would it make the DCs feel special if you could 'hand over your bouquet' for them to look after while you're signing the register thing? Or would flowers be annoying, and something else to worry about?

I think the nicest thing about low-key dos are that you really can pick the bits that suit you, not have to follow what everyone 'expects'. Hope you have a lovely day!

I don't think you have to have anything in a compulsory sort of way at a wedding. If you fancy carrying a bouquet of flowers then do. If not, don't waste spend the money on one. To be honest, without an aisle to wander down there's not a lot of opportunity to do much with a bouquet anyway and as soon as the ceremony starts you have to put it down somewhere.

Oh yes photos I hadn't even considered that. I have emailed a local florist and will see what prices are. Don't want to spend a fortune if its just for the sake of it (would rather spend it on shoes or champagne for after) but want to look right on the day all the same :)

I didn't have one, you can get a decent boquet (sp?) for cheap, just don't mention the word 'wedding'!!

I had one -but I made it myself from artificial flowers so I could have it to keep... did the dress and things(ish - but I got married in purple) but felt a bit odd going completely bridal (plus I had to walk past the entire Birmingham City footy team in my garb and woulda felt a right prat) so toned it down.

Go for real flowers. Much nicer and easily bought at any florists rather than necessarily needing ordering in advance. Something simple and different like sunflowers would be fab.

I bought mine (sweet williams) for a pound from the market the day before. They matched my hair :)

I had a small registry office wedding. Didn't have a "dress", wasn't planning to have flowers.

Except, on the morning of our wedding, my lovely granddad disappeared off to his allotment and came back with a bunch of sweet peas for me to carry. My grandma tied them up with a bit of old pink ribbon that she found in her sewing basket.

I went to the florist the day before and picked a couple of flowers that I liked, and one for my hair. Just tied a ribbon around them.

If you like flowers, is nice to have one. Lots of florists can do things last-minute.

its your wedding, if you want them get them, if you dont then dont :) ibought mine from asda the night before and held them together with gardening wire (also asda) and a ribbon that matched my dress :)
