thinking that Argos shouldn't advertise stock as being available now in a major mag

if it's not actually available til October. DD is a bit gutted after seeing a playset advertised in the Dr Who magazine that says available now at Argos, but is actually not in any of the stores (I used istock checker and it's not there) nor available for delivery.

Having checked other internet suppliers, there's an October due date on this...pre-orders being accepted, but it's certainly not 'available'.

I've complained to the magazine and the company as I'm really pissed off about it. I know it's nothing major in the scheme of things, but surely it's not legal to advertise items as being available when they aint???

Have you considered that they may be using it as a way of drumming up and gagueing demand for the item, or that the mag and Argos hadn't coordinated themselves?

kittensliveupstairs · 10/08/2011 14:10

I am not sure what gaguing is, I meant seeing how much they needed, can't spell gague gage gadge I give up, you get what I mean.

huffythethreadslayer · 10/08/2011 14:15

LOL. I know what you mean Kittensliveupstairs. But why would you put Available Now, if it wasn't? Surely that's misleading advertising??? Lying, even, in real terms.

Most advertising campaigns gauge desire/interest before they go to market, not via an expensive, glossy ad campaign. And if they were drumming up interest, why say available now???

I suppose that's my main whinge really. It wouldn't bother me if it was adults, but you know what kids are like. They see something, they set their hearts on it. DD was sooo disappointed today and it was just annoying that the companies involved could do this.

I agree it is annoying, but am mightily pleased I appear to have spelled the word gague properly although it still comes up with red dots underneath it.
So, YANBU unless you can't spell either.
