to be somewhat surprised by what DD1 has done to her bedroom?

I was thinking she was being an antisocial teenager hiding up there all day.

I just looked in to make sure she had actually got dressed today and have discovered she has spent the day painting her walls.

one wall has multicoloured handprints all over.

one wall has a moon and stars.

another wall has big red hearts.

And on the other wall is a large ship on an ocean.

I can't decide whether to be cross or impressed by her artistic talent. it looks rather nice.

But I thought the days of children drawing on the walls was over. Does this mean that every time it goes all quiet I have to keep checking her every 5 minutes again?

But she was boooored, and you didn't entertain her.
Seems fair enough to me!

FabbyChic · 08/08/2011 18:45

I wouldn't like it! But I think it is great she wanted to do something nice to her room and make it all hers. Sounds like she done a good job.

JustFiveMinutesHAHAHA · 08/08/2011 18:45

I'd be like you - not sure whether to be impressed or pissed off - .... probably depends what she's like the rest of the time! I can't believe she/kids in general do that kind of stuff without asking first... OH how things have changed!!

TrillianAstra · 08/08/2011 18:45

How old is she?

Is it a problem if she has multicoloured walls?

Is she cleaning up after herself and making sure not to paint things that should not be painted?

AuntieMaggie · 08/08/2011 18:46

lol sounds good to me unless of course she painted over expensive wallpaper... cheap way to decorate and keeps her out of trouble!

mustdash · 08/08/2011 18:46

It sounds great - does she do commissions?

Hope she's cleaned up after herself though. Grin

AtYourCervix · 08/08/2011 18:48

It was bloody DD2 who was bored.

DD1 is the good, sweet, nice one (normally). (she's 15)

It's all very neat and tidy. All stencilled and measured not just scrawled.

It's my fault for giving her the rainbow bedroom she asked for when she was 4.

Job's a good 'un!

My son (4) wants a pirate themed wall, if she's available for commisionGrin

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 08/08/2011 18:52

You know what we're going to say next...

Pics or it didn't happen! Wink

What was her attitude like when you saw it? All - 'isn't this cool mum' or 'oh fuck you I'll do what I want'??

AtYourCervix · 08/08/2011 19:01

she was quietly pleased with it.

My rainbow was bloody brilliant - Across 2 walls, with grass, flowers, sky and clouds over the other 2. A bit telly-tubby inspired.

Will try and do a pic or 2 but my laptop has broke so am trying to find my way round Dh's PC.

and her room was looking a bit tatty anyway having not been painted in the last 5 years or so.

LaWeasel · 08/08/2011 19:03

I'm quite impressed that she did it all (and neatly!) without abandoning it...

So I guess I'd be impressed with a side of - I don't mind, but really you should have asked me first.

gallicgirl · 08/08/2011 19:04

I did an under-sea scene on my bedroom wall when I was that age. Looked fab.

Sounds great.

LaWeasel · 08/08/2011 19:04

Me and my sister painted a big barcode on her bedroom wall at about that age. We must've told dad though, because he took us out to buy the paint!

AtYourCervix · 08/08/2011 19:10

I've just added my own hand print. in purple.
wonder in DH would let her do our room too?

michglas · 08/08/2011 19:12

DD1 (15) has painted big beautiful butterflies on one of her walls.

activate · 08/08/2011 19:18

she should have asked first

HappyMummyOfOne · 08/08/2011 19:18

It sounds fab, it wouldnt bother me if DS did this when he's older.

storytopper · 08/08/2011 19:21

Sounds fantastic! And it's only paint - when she get's fed up with it, she can paint over it. Could be the start of a career - who knows?

AtYourCervix · 08/08/2011 19:28

can't do a photo. technology has beaten me.

OP posts:
hellospoon · 08/08/2011 19:28

wow sounds brilliant, i would of loved to have had the talent to do that!

aslong as it is nice and if you move you can paint over it easily i see no problem!

Where did she get the paint from, did you buy it??

neuroticmumof3 · 08/08/2011 19:48

I think you should be impressed. I know I am. She did something creative. Without making a godawful mess. Or a big fuss.

AtYourCervix · 08/08/2011 19:56

she's doing GCSE art so has all sorts of paints. It is rather nice. Just a bit surprising Grin
